Timmy Parkin was one of the best centre backs I've ever seen play for us. He was slow as fcuk but it didn't matter because no one ever got past him.

Edit:back to those rumours....

I was going to make a joke about Mark Bright and Ian Wright but yep I know what you mean. Having a footballing brain to know your positioning can help out when you’re lacking in pace.

Hoping there’s a couple of singings today.
The fact there still hasn’t been any training pictures hopefully means more are training with us.
Team are travelling today though so any new signings might be on the coach.

Boos just tweet the “another one” gif

I wonder why the signing hasn’t been announced by the club though

I mean at this point i think we are all aware of the speed of the clubs announcing things. The UGM article/pics were clearly done last weekend and it was announced yesterday!

Prematch Press is at 1pm today, which is about the same time as they need to be registered for the weekend.

So i'm sure we will know by then at the latest.

Looking good #stfc for Uwakwe. Paperwork submitted to the club late last night. Final steps.

Remember it has to be registered by midday for the match day squad. But announcement can be whenever.

Just to clarify no one from The Real EFL has said that a Burnley player is having a medical.

To have two genuine wide players either side being known for getting crosses in?
Lee Holmes and Matt Richie were the last team I can remember doing that.

I guess the worry now is with fitness and whether throwing in 2/3 players into the starting lineup that haven’t had a pre season will risk injury. Guess with the LWB position we don’t have a choice, however, with UGM (and Edwards if he’s signed) I wonder if they’ll hold back from throwing him in right away

I presume any player waiting for a new club keeps himself fit - and most have been training with clubs anyway.

Yeah true if they’ve been training with other clubs. Huge difference between keeping fit and being match fit though, I’ll see if I can have a dig through and find it but read an interesting article on how they determine % chance of injury in upcoming matches for each player and someone purely training in a non match like environment has a certain % higher chance of injury when going straight into a starting XI for a proper match. Or something like that, I’m not an expert, interesting read though.

Uwakwe sounds like he’s played a few matches on trial elsewhere at least.

Uwakwe will be ready to go. Had played a lot of pre-season friendlies this summer on trial at various clubs including Reading and FGR - think it was 3 in total for FGR.

UGM has been keeping fit quite intensely. As he's been in training since Monday he'd have been able to join in on shape, but wouldnt be surprised if the same back 3 from Saturday start again this weekend.

If we do sign Uwakwe I hope admin does the FGR/STFC badge thing on the school locker like they did when they signed Moore-Taylor.

The old Alessandro Cibocchi / Lee Holmes & Paul Caddis / Matt Richie partnerships. Those were good old days

I'm going to feel fairly content if we land these two in the next 24 hours.

Recruitment seems to be more based on what the team needs this year.
