Yes I would push FBT back to LB/LWB if we get a CB signing in, as I posted in the Colchester thread.

I dont want that to happen. He is better at LCB in this new set up, we really need a Hutton style character on the left.

I highly doubt it as he was release by them and is OOC. I think the Lavinier stuff is all speculation tbf.

He'd be better covering at LWB than anyone else on the team purely by virtue that he is a WB already and has played there.
He wasnt released he turned down a new contract and is only 23 so would be due a tribunal compensation fee to FGR under the Bosman ruling.

There are 19 players already tied down for the 2023/24 League Two campaign and long-serving defender Udoka Godwin-Malife has been offered a new contract.

The 23-year-old joined Rovers from Oxford City in 2019.

I think FBT enjoys his new role as a wandering LCB but if its down to numbers and who is fit I see little choice if we dont sign a LWB or play a RWB at LWB.

I may have misread then, he doesn't fall into the FGR list for under contract for the coming season, just says offered new contract.

Still it doesn't sound as though Lavinier going there is a blocker. If he doesn't want to go and is in our plans then surely its a case of going to tribunal and stumping up the fee.

See above addition to my post.

As long as they have offered a new contract for similar wages then they are due a compensation fee.

I’m not ITK but I could see how Lavinier not going there could scupper it. It was rumoured on here or the FGR forums that they wanted 200k to avoid going to tribunal, could you see us paying 200k for a regular transfer? I can’t and risking it going to tribunal seems even less likely for us at the minute as we could get shafted for more like with the Troy Archibald Henville and James Collins tribunals.

Hopefully will be all smooth sailing anyway.

No worries Smiley Lavinier is too good to go to them so I hope we keep him and get Godwin in too for a tiny tribunal fee just to piss them off! Smiley

Tribunal fees i believe are better balanced these days. So less upfront, more based on games played and sell on fees etc.

The club has to have known that was the deal with going for UGM, and i would like to believe they would invest where necessary.

I can't help but mentally every time I see Godwin-Malifes name - in my head I see this.

No hes a little too caucasian I would think but I hear the name and bang, there he is.

The FGR fans nickanmed him Dokes, which with the character from Dexter named Doakes is probably a closer match TBH.
