With the forest Green kiddie, it’s not who we’re spending it on (he seems a good player on the face of things) it’s that we’re having to trade him for Lavinier. We’re light at full/wing back, and even if we werent I think a competitive side has him as depth at the very least

Young has a very uninspiring CV, but would be coming in at second fiddle and I’m less worried about. It’s more the fact that we can’t get a centre back in without getting rid of Lavinier
On the flip side to this we end up with a centre half we need and the lad from Bournemouth(potentially)

For the record the whole trading him thing is a rumour made up (tans will confirm) it just shows how one person saying it can be seen as gospel

I'm led to believe it's more than a rumour. We'll find out next week.

Yeah but it’s all extra risk, isn’t it. risk that you’d hope money would cover

Obviously I hope we get to March and this conversation is completely moot. But we’re a week away from the start of the season and we’ve a weaker squad than at the end of March

So to confirm we think the 3 are

Udoka Godwin-Malife ( Lavinier goes the other way because of a fee involved)

Why would we be paying a fee for a player that's out of contract? Did he sign back up at FGR this summer?

Under 24 (or is it 23?) so if FGR offered him a deal - they’d be due compo

He's under 24 so FGR are entitled to compensation. They're demanding £200k to avoid going to a tribunal. Lavinier as a makeweight to lower or eradicate that fee.

Sorry, I meant the fee part not the fact they’re swapping clubs

I wild let it go to a tribunal as can't see them getting even half of the £200k they're demanding.

Remember Troy Archibald Henville went to tribunal and we got utterly screwed over by that. Think he ended up costing us nearly half a million?

Yeah it's always worth trying to get it sorted before a tribunal after the Troy affair!

FGR expected UGM to head to League One this summer so this will be bit of a coup. They previously nearly lost him to Championship clubs as well.

Guess this means we sign Genesini or another full back capable of covering both sides if we’re losing that depth in Lavinier.

On top of a starting LWB

Apparently Chennaiyain are announcing a foreign signing today, expected to be Edwards.
