I'm sure they would get far more people to attend that if they had been active in the window. Fans want to see the new 'talent' and then go home and moan about them.

It would be but if we predominantly signed punts in the window i would be as worried, my thought process would be to add him a few more senior signing like the one we been linked with this week and go from there. Even if he comes in as cover and Liv is first choice RB it would make sense to me

I was thinking in context as a direct replacement to Hutton, though as you say Lavinier would likely go there.

No problem with cover, and as I say, of course they can still work out very well indeed even if not.

For a start, KKH was a loan, second he was signed when we were a basket case and finally, we signed players such as Gladwin, Reed and Williams alongside the younger "punts".

Oh, and in the end the squad wasn't good enough to go up - so technically a failure (it was just a season with a shit load of context to make that feel better).

Indeed, but your post seemed to poo-poo Genesini and put him straight into the hopeful punt bin.

exactly!

I've not gone to a single preseason game. Not even any Trialists so to speak that we could laugh at - well, ones we know about anyway until the day.

he does go straight into the hopeful punt bin. Not the profile we need to prioritise.

Hutton was joint 5th position from premiership to league 2 with 12 assists, its gonna be a struggle to say the least 'if' we need to replace him now at such short notice. Not interested in the 'money in' chat either, we've been told Flynn has a pot of money and budget is competitive so need to deplete an already thin squad.

After loaning dworzak and hart out (arguably a positive and means even more bodies coming in?) we currently have 14 fit first team players available - we are in no position to be selling at the moment imo...

As for Genesini - might be a rough diamond/gem but its not really what we need on paper, a third right footed right back, need to prioritise defence, but preferably 2 at centre half and an attacking left back. Defensive mid crucial too. Ideally all of them being capable of starting 30 + games a season. Extra keeper and attacker can wait.

I mean this to come out in the best way possible so honestly please do not take it as a personal attack but Not intereted in 'money in chat' is laughable tbh

We are a league 2 club who's owner as recently a yesterday said he wants to be self sustainable. If the club think they can get a replacement in and make some money then they will take it, nearly every club in the world world . On a pure footballing side of things if they also think that they will see more cretivity from elsewhere in the team this year they will take it.

Fans really need to get out of this mindset that we wont take acceptable offers for our players, may not like it but the club have told us from day 1 that is what they will do. They certainly didn't spend money on Hutton to let him fuck off for fee next year

As a fan yeah i would probably keep hi,. As an owner i would offer a new deal now, if he turns it down sell him

This is exactly what Peterborough do, any player with a year left on their contract that won’t sign a new one is automatically put on the transfer list.  I guess the tricky bit is working out what to accept

Starting to feel a bit Greer-like all this Hutton chat.

It’s simple for me.

Is Hutton an asset. Yes
Is he an asset to our football team. Yes
Is he an asset we could sell for financial gain. Yes
Is he an asset that in 12 months time could leave for free. Yes

Sit down with now. Put a years extension in front of him right now and put the ball firmly in his court. If he signs it - we revisit this scenario next year (where he could possibly be worth more [but also less I suppose])

If he doesn’t sign it then we need to weight up the pro’s and con’s of keeping him this year for what he brings on the pitch vs what he can potentially bring in financially and then make the best decision for the club…
