stalking horse indeed

hey ho, with this one it always seemed a bit of a long shot to me . Just sounded a bit good to be true.

We had a CB with a better CV than Edwards last year and people thought he was shit.

Putting the reasoning for him leaving aside and looking at him purely on the pitch. I never understood the stick he got, was a proper defender and the first one we’ve had in quite a while, yeah he wasn’t amazing on the ball but he did his main job well enough.

He didn't look great, or commanding, and our defending was suspect when he was with us.  We looked considerably worse without him and Clayton had more wobbles.

a stat from back in january:

Out of 26 league games Swindon have had 9 clean sheets. MacDonald has played 16 games of which 7 have been clean sheets almost half of the games he has played.

How many goals did we concede from just a simple cross into the box? Players missing or out of position. We don’t need a footballing CB in L2 - we need a brick shithouse who heads and clears and organises.

I wouldn't mind if we played with two brick shithouse's at the back to get us out of league 2

I thought Clayton suffered most from Macdonald leaving, looked much better next to him. That Macdonald Clayton CB partnership looked our most promising combination.
