I’d be in no rush to sell Lavinier unless he had two CBs, two LWBs and a RWB lined up.

Don’t want to go to Iandoloish but Lavinier appears to be capable of playing RCB and WB on either side. That versatility would come in handy particularly now Clayton & Devine are injured.

I assume Lavinier is only under contract until the end of this season? he'll be under 24 so we'll get compensation should other clubs look to sign him when his contract expires. I think he's a very useful player to have, even more so given our squad is so thin at the moment. Clearly if Pompey are interested and throw enough money, we'll sell. I suspect we would want to try and put that off until the transfer window closing at the earliest.

No compo for us as we didn't develop him, or at least I think that's how it works

I initially thought that, but looking at the Jesse Debrah transfer 'saga' I saw this -

"Despite announcing his departure from Halifax, they will be entitled to compensation for Debrah's services considering they offered him a new contract and he is under the age of 24, meaning any club would have to agree a fee with them or as a last resort head to a tribunal to determine the cost of the move."

You get some compensation money for any OOC player aged 23 or under that turns down a contract offer to sign for another club in England I believe. It’s the scale of that compensation that changes if they’re a player you’ve developed more than others I think in combination with a realistic evaluation of their level at the time of tribunal.

We got shafted pretty bad on the Troy Archibald Henville and James Collins tribunals at the time I think and ended up having to pay some hefty fees plus add ons. TAH had gone from Spurs to Exeter before we signed him, Collins had gone from Villa to Shrewsbury before we signed him.

I mean that does seem more likely, but until he's gone I'll hold unrealistic hopes

Interesting, I didn't realise that.

Clearly his agent wrote that Pete O’Rourke article - it doesn’t actually name the champ or league 1 clubs- just a negotiating ploy to get Swindon to to up what’s on offer. Swindon may just say bugger off and move onto the next target.

See someone on the Adver page said we were going to sign a big defender but he failed the medical.

Don’t know if it counts as a big defender but Jesse Debrah has allegedly failed a few medicals at other clubs

Did I ask it to be in the public domain in the sense of this forum....nope. A lot of perhaps in that - I'll have to start calling you Doris Day  Smiley

Last time I checked, if something is reported to the authorities it is not made public initially as most things are treated in extreme confidence. So yes, you're correct and not everything should be in the public domain but that's rather moot Berni because I haven't stated it as such. All I said was why hasn't it been reported by anyone...and anyone could literally be anyone who is personally involved...that isn't always the person{s} that may have been victim to certain alleged events.

I also followed that up, after a tongue in cheek exchange with L-L when stating that I wouldn't expect anyone to publicly post the allegations. So again, no one {or myself} has asked for all the detail to be in the public domain at the expense of those involved...just a thought

I am going to have to remember not to quote any of your posts to put my POV accross on a subject as you always take everything so personally and think it is 100% aimed at you.

My point wasn't really about the public domain, that was more aimed at those digging at the club for letting him go because there is no evidence to suggest he did anything wrong - hence not everything should be expected to be in the public domain.

My point was that the nature of the subject based on what some have heard means that there are more parties involved than McDonald and the club and perhaps they didn't want the matter persued or reported - i wasn't disecting your post (which tends to be the nature of your replies) i was just using it as a reference to the point I was making.

I seem to say this a lot to you Bamboo - but not everything is about, or aimed at you, and I don't need you to explain to me in every post what you were trying to say in minutiae (ironically what I am having to do now).  You are obviously an intellegent guy and like to put your point across in complete detail, but don't assume that because of this, everyone else is an idiot.
