How successful we are at this will be the biggest single factor in determining how the whole season turns out...

I can't remember the last player we had who could spot the run of a striker. As good as Williams was, he didn't create that many. Hopefully we can have a few other creative outlets other than Huttons right foot.

Weeeeeee allllll agreeeeee Roger Malone is a wanker
I met him many times when I was stewarding and was interviewed by him a couple of times after Town games, one being the Arsenal game in 79 when I was just 14, he is actually a lovely bloke.

Where have you seen that pls?
Just my thoughts.

I can’t see what the benefit is to MK, though. I assume we pay his wages so there’s that but if he’s OOC at the end of the season he’ll go for nowt. Why not just ask a fairly nominal amount for him now - especially as Flynn said, there were a few other clubs after him who I presume would have been willing to pay a perm transfer fee.

Just seems a weird bit of business.

Fuck knows, if he does well he will have lots of suitors but it’s good for us if he does well so crack on. People getting arsey about it being a loan is just weird tbh- use the loan market to your advantage, costs the club virtually nothing but rewards can be more than decent. That’s not me saying your 5 loans should be the ones you’re solely  dependent on week in week out, but make them count. Now for some defenders and a defensive mid 👍, need a strong end to the week.

Spot on - totally agree with everything. I don't get the sniffiness about loans either. Yes in an ideal world we shell out 250k on a player like this and sign him on a 3 year contract with a healthy sell on clause, but currently that's simply not an option. I do think there is an element of forward thinking about this one - time will tell of course, but i'm happy with Kemp.

Watching his goal reels last night, he's scored quite a few headers for a small lad which is promising.

Jonny Williams had the ability of timing his runs into the box to score with headers as well, it seems Kemp may also potentially possess that ability also.

Neither club have said this mind. MK have said he can't play against them so would suggest it's just a straight loan.

Edit....Perhaps MK have to shed their wage bill...could be one reason.

Good signing, but annoying that it's on loan. If he's any good, he won't be here past January!

Assume if he does well they can try and get a few quid for him in January, if he was just sat in the stiffs at MK then best would probably be a freebie in January.

This is my only concern, as a player he sounds almost identical to Jack Payne. Hopefully we have a right to buy in January for a set fee if he does do well.

Strong left foot, likes a long range shot, can thread a pass, run with the ball at his feet, take a penalty and FK and prefers to play in the number 10 role. Also is still only 24.

I think it's probably this. Put him in the shop window and start a bidding 'war' in January. You'd like to think if he does well for us then we are in the box seat to get him permanently. (obviously depending on funds available etc) I think given how little he's played for Franchise they don't see him as part of their plans.

A little surprised given how good he was at Hartlepool that no other clubs have taken a bit of a punt on him but here we are.

Agreed and i share the concern.

The club model is built on being able to turn players for a profit. Something we cant do with loan signings. This is the sort of player you invest in to make a profit in the future.

Pretty obvious really mate...It's because we've been fucked over on multiple occasions by 'season long' loans, in the very recent past. Particularly the season before last ...Simpson, Kessler-Hayden and Critchlow just off the top of my head...

Positive signing. 9 in 16 in an awful Hartlepool side is encouraging, and we lack a proper number 10, so pleased to sign someone of his ilk. Obviously, being a loan is a concern as we’ve had a couple promotion pushes in the past derailed from loanees being recalled in January, but it’s the risk you take. Still 4/5 first team players short of a good enough starting XI in my opinion, but it’s a start

Unfortunately though OST, that's where we find ourselves at the moment. The loan signings you mentioned were absolutely superb for us and were clearly above the league 2 level. Their and our success unfortunately led to their recall, and where our contingency planning wasn't quite up to scratch.

We are unlikely to be able to get anywhere near the level of talent of these players by signing players permanently at the level we are at, and that's pretty our options so you have to weigh up the pros and cons of those options. It's never going to be perfect.

That said, and i've put my head above the parapet already by stating this (i've no idea how true it is), I think there is a level of forward thinking about this loan. It sounds like Kemp and Flynn have been in contact previously and given he seems to be out of favour at Franchise I reckon this could be a slightly longer term relationship, we'll see.
