He wouldn’t be the first trialist that a manager has decided against signing, and he won’t be the last. Why is it suddenly a big deal? Everyone just needs to relax and stop assuming the worst all the time.

It’s the same with all the discussions about the club not having a secretary and whatever else behind the scenes, everyone always jumps to the worst conclusion, we must be skint etc and then today we’ve found out it’s all been in hand.

Just chill the fuck out. We put a team together 2 weeks before the season 2 years ago and got in the play offs, there’s no rush. Flynn will get this right.
The point is we were told that lessons had been learned and wouldn’t be repeated.

What if all of Flynns targets are still available? Should he just be signing other players to keep fans happy?

Like Cian Harries? That went well.

Depends what the lessons were. Maybe they were 'don't commit to average players too early'.

If you look at our signings last summer, most of the better ones were later in July or even in August - FBT, Jephcott, MacDonald.

Fwiw, I can't see us being relegated this season either. I'd like to think even without signing anyone, this squad would finish just as high as last season. With new signings, I'd like to think we'll be at least in the playoff picture

I presume he’s had targets for some time. Why hasn’t he, or the club, managed to get one over the line yet.

Don’t count the keeper.

Not one thing from last season has been repeated has it?  The management is different the medical team is different the manager is making the signings and there has been a huge restructure as seen in the last 2 days.

If we are in this position in 4 or 5 weeks then yeah i get it but we got fans judging when it isn't even close to being over yet surely judge when the window shuts

Everyone trying to make themselves feel better. The cold hard truth is Flynn and we all know we need quite a few players, regardless of whats being said publicly. The fact nothing has materialized so far is a concern and there is nothing wrong with us being worried about it.

Re: wages.

We’d offered Danny Johnson 3k per week (no idea how that weekly wage holds up with the rest of L2)
So, either we’ve found out we were skint after we offered that or we aren’t quite that skint or 3k a week is now the definition of L2 skint.

Just by looking who we have on the books vs who left - we wouldn’t have freed up massive amounts of money anyway.

No one is saying we don't need players, not everyone is worried as much as others. Nothing wrong with that either but when people start talking about relegation and no money all the time it becomes tiresome because as many have said they spent last year but on a load of shit

I'd be worried about our season if it started tomorrow.

We do need a good number of players up the spine.

I do not think they have to be top level quality though - five FBT types would be more than handy to layer onto the younger payers who have potential and someone like Austin up top.  In fact, that's the most disappointing thing about last season - the Austin signing was a huge opportunity that Sandro fucked up by releasing everyone else with experience and replacing with youth.

It's a shame to have missed out on a promotion winning captain, but may work out better in the end. Exact same profile as Clayton and would have led to 3/4 of our starting CBs being left footed so would have been a bit unbalanced. Flynn couldn't have been that keen for him to have come in on trial with his background and pedigree. Flynns also keen for more height at the back, something which he wouldn't have provided. Straw clutching nonetheless but it's not the end of the world.
TBH all that sounds pretty reasonable, Flynn obviously wanted a look before commiting, which is probably a pretty sensible thing to do.

I'd guess that Reed, Gladwin, Iandolo, Williams* and possibly McKirdy and Frenchie were fairly high earners.

hopefully insurance covered Frenchie mind.

* Williams (+ McKirdy) still on embargo related wages, hence sodding off.

it's not unreasonable to think the wage structure has been reduced over the last season. Though you can't tell how it now relates to other clubs.
