Khan - imagine he could be an asset with someone next to him to reel him in from time to time.  Calm him down, remind him where he is positionally on the pitch, keep him focused on defending when needed etc.

Khan isn't the answer to our DCM problem. Not even close.

Actually, experienced players "like" Harries are what I do expect just better judgement on the players abilities this time.  Somehow he had managed to be a L1 player!  But I very much doubt we bring in L1 "names".  A few more FBT's - not someone we necessarily recognise, but has league games under their belt.  Basic competence is needed, not match winners.

Agreed, but just to point out that FBT had played the grand total of 30 league games before he rolled up here, quite the late blossomer!

With all due respect, the club can barely announce a player's contract extension properly so I find it highly improbably we're going to get Clem, Rob Angus or AN Other representing the club coming out and saying we've had to rethink our budgetary arrangements as the coffers have run dry.

Why would they bother anyway when they appear to have the club accountant making statements on here.

I didn't say he was.

As part of the midfield we ended up with last season he probably was more liability than asset.

I'd like to see how he plays with a more experienced partner behind him/alongside him.  A stopper of a midfielder who can point and direct.

You also then have two creative types to fit into a three as well.

I'm just saying you do not need a "name" as such, a bank breaker of a signing.  You need an on field coach type.

FBT had played a lot more league games, just not top 4 division ones.  It doesn't always have to be about the level of the games.  He clearly knew how to play the game, retain some consistency of performance.  You'd prefer more of those games to be L1 and L2 of course.

At Supermarine, it was very much 2 players sitting, 1 supporting the top 2. At the moment that looks like McEachren and Khan as the 2, Caine as the attacking one.

It sort of is - I'm at least sticking to what I think we need to add to the squad.  I have no idea who those names are or could be.  I doubt any of the additions are well known, just suggesting they don't even need to be in order to make us better and they may take a few more weeks yet to get in.

D'oh! I've become the very thing I hate... wandering off at ridiculous tangents... Town don't help with the total (perceived) lack of transfer activity in fairness...

We already have an entire squad of players like that though.  None of our signings this pre-season should be "punts".  We have 15+ of those.

My point was he is less ''punty'' than last seasons lot and does have experience playing in League One and Two as well as the Polish Prem. It's not like he's just turned 21 and left a Prem Academy...he's 25 and probably experienced enough to have another crack at League Two level, I'd say.

And if Town are shipping out several of last seasons proper punts, whilst of course we need some spine signings, there will still be some reliable squad filler needed. I feel that someone like Maghoma would be a much lower risk ''punt'' than several that were signed off pure data alone last season.

I don’t think they’ll be any rumours per se. Triallists will turn up for various friendlies and that’s it.

Have we been linked to any DM’s apart from Labadie?

Trying to keep the rumours thread on track.
