Based on absolutely nothing at all I reckon we'll announce something at 5/6pm today.
This 100%.

A fan on twitter seemed very sure of a signing announcement today. Absolutely zero idea of their reliability or who the potential signing could be.

The STFC Woman’s team Twitter account posted a picture of scarf and a pen and said see you at 7

That will be their third signing this week.

Whether that’s what said Twitter fan has seen and like me at first glance thought it would STFC who had tweeted it

I considered suggesting the other day that the reason the men's team hadn't made any signings yet was that our scouting team were working on the women's side first, but I thought there was too high a risk people would take it seriously...

The thought had crossed my mind - that it might be easier / more achievable to grow the women’s team and progress them up the smaller, less money dominated pyramid.

Christian Maghoma is still the {former} Eastleigh lad I would be happy enough to sign as an additional R/CB/CDM.

Free agent now after contract expired end of June. Seemingly would fit Town's budget and is one of those ''nearly men'' - so he's not quite a punt but more looking to try and rebuild his pro career after leaving Spurs around 5yrs ago. He's 25 and worth a one plus one contract.

We already have an entire squad of players like that though.  None of our signings this pre-season should be "punts".  We have 15+ of those.

It's also why I am less worried about a lack of activity, at the moment.  We need 5 or 6 been there and done it types.  Either players dropping down a level because they are coming towards the end, or players below us or around us looking for an opportunity to shine.

We may well need to wait until one or two are moved on to get some of those done.

Where's the money coming from for those signings?

You literally put a players name in here the other day who had signed for someone else the week before. Get off your high horse.

I'd like to think we at least re-purpose some of the Williams wage.

The rest could be a mix of loans (the higher up players, on the books but not going to be used and they can't ship out in contract), some younger loans that already have experience and move on a few (hence the need for time) to re-use existing wages.

Thought is was based on it being ‘Friday statement’ time.

We already showed two years ago that you can have a better team with a lower budget than what we spunked this last season.

Harries, Dabre, Parsons, Cowmeadow, Massey, Williams, Roberts, Iandolo, Brynn, Jephcott, Tomlinson, Baudry and Kadji have all left the club since the end of the season, with a grand total of one loan in (and Dworzak signing pro). If the budget has been cut to the extent that all of those players have not been enough to free up funds for one or two in, then there will be much unhappiness to come.

That's thirteen players, of which at least six would have been on proper pro wages.

Of them 4 were loans, 5 were youth players on minimal wages, Harries wouldn't have been on big wages........

So you've only really saved Williams and Baudrys wages....

The state of our finances , means we cannot afford 'Big name' quality signings

Young loans and 2nd rate experienced players like Harries are what we can look forward too
