I've never known such a lack of rumours at this time of year.

Do we even have any trialists, trying to assess whether supermarine is worth it!

If you don't have any staff you can't have any leaks. Genius really.

Maybe we were a bit hasty hounding out the person doing the recruitment?
Perhaps giving the manager a bit more say, reigning him in a bit and changing his instructions might have been a better idea?

I’m led to believe we have signed someone. My brother showed me a pic sent from a friend of his friend yesterday of a young looking lad being photographed in one of the board rooms/1879 suite with an outfield kit on the table in front of him. Pictured in a dark suit, white with brown hair and sitting down so can’t judge the height. This is very little to go on I know but it certainly looked like a done deal. Rather frustratingly I don’t have name yet but will let you know if and when they get back to me! Looks very young from the pic I saw, would be very surprised if he is older than 20 so not quite the old experienced head we are craving. Looks more like a punt/development prospect.

Could be someone signing as a scholar for the U18’s? I’m not sure how exactly it works but I think there is the obvious path of offering scholarship terms to our U16’s but also the route that we can offer scholarship terms to released players from other clubs. E.g offer a 2 year scholarship to a player released from Bristol City’s academy or something like that. They’ll likely have some signing pics etc but those don’t usually get announced on social media. I could be way off though with that so correct me if wrong.

If they looked that young that they could be in the U18 bracket then maybe it’s that.

It is a possibility but the guy messaged my brother saying he had just joined Swindon I think so I suspect he may be a youth prospect signed from elsewhere.

He’s not a direct friend of my brother but a friend of a friend type situation. My bro asked him for the name but hasn’t heard back yet. Will let you know as soon as I know (by which time signing may be announced anyway). He did say he was looking forward to appearing on FIFA which may suggest it’s his first club/first senior contract but that is just speculation.

No one hounded him out. That's not a thing.

It's the first week of July which is when the real fun starts - just the standard TEF frustration for this time of the year, nothing new..

Think he had to go after the truth about the JFK shooting came out.

To be honest I don’t think it’s wild to be a bit frustrated at this point. Not repeatedly pressing the panic button but some grumbles can be valid.

We have 17 contracted players, but how many of those are good enough for a promotion chasing team? So that will require business to shift players out as well as bringing players in which is usually not a quick process. So for someone who was hoping to get most of pre season in with 60%-70% of the squad we want, I can see how they’d be disappointed at that probably not happening. Especially with the added comments on top from the higher ups about “early business” during ST pushing promotion and seeing other teams complete early and good business.

Not saying that it’s impossible to get things done quickly and hopefully they will but acting like there’s 0 grounds to have some frustrations is unfair imo.

Cowley suggested there will be some comings and goings this week and the picture I have seen supports that. Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s left a little later in the day to announce as these things often coincide with the early evening when online traffic is higher.
