This is a rumour thread, so quite frankly, anyone can put any name in.

But you’ve put some pretty big names in the hat so far, kerr, Clare, brown, raglan and now Jack Hunt.

If there is substance to any of those you’d think raglan be the one. Seen stuff about marquee signings to get fans gripped etc and help sell more STs, 4.4K is an unbelievable effort from the 5.1k last season, fans will back blindly whilst things appear to be “ok”. Big name signings like Williams, Reed (tittle and promotion winner to championship season we got him) or even a Austin would of course help sell more but 1, I think the club will be extremely satisfied with 4.4K as it stands and secondly, big names probably fit the remit even less this season with the other big spenders in the division.

Get 4-5 quality bodies in  asap, get rid of deadwood like Aguiar, Darcy etc etc and then try pick a few gems up end of window ie how we did with benda and Grant and then let’s see what squad we have, club cannot fuck up three transfer windows on the bounce.

…..or keep diluting the talent and become a League Two also ran.

As long as we realise we won't sign anyone as good as Williams, I don't mind waiting until we get someone who's half as good.

Somebody who isn't rolling around on the floor every 5 minutes would be nice.

Maybe right. But only if he's a better player than the one as he's replacing. 90 % of the time it was because he was fouled

I know it's rumours but Williams was best of a bad bunch last year and was still poor in the majority of games last year after the world cup. Played his nuts off to get in that squad then was as average as the others imo.

Pining over players that have helped us finish mid table seems odd to me

From someone who actually bothers to support I am pissed off with this shite league and want out.
Last season a disaster and we’ve gone backwards.
Decent managerial appointment and next few weeks I can only hope we bring in better than what we have lost.
What a daft comment from you.

Aaron Lewis leaves Newport. Full back who can play both sides and comfortable in midfield. Another of MF Newport signings. Possible good utility signing?

Eerily quiet in this thread for this time of year.

Who is leading recruitment? Why are we so slow after having a headstart over everyone else? Past the point of 'early days in the window' now. Not at panic stations yet but ominous signs so far.

I’m led to believe we have signed someone. My brother showed me a pic sent from a friend of his friend yesterday of a young looking lad being photographed in one of the board rooms/1879 suite with an outfield kit on the table in front of him. Pictured in a dark suit, white with brown hair and sitting down so can’t judge the height. This is very little to go on I know but it certainly looked like a done deal. Rather frustratingly I don’t have name yet but will let you know if and when they get back to me! Looks very young from the pic I saw, would be very surprised if he is older than 20 so not quite the old experienced head we are craving. Looks more like a punt/development prospect.

I can vouch for the photo.

A fresh faced cherub that had me thinking that it could just be an Academy signing.
