Ellis Iandolo to Crawley is advancing.

Work ongoing for another Midfielder signing before the window closes

Could potentially be another defender on top of FBT and MFW but chances of that one are low.

Is the midfielder he mentions Kai Corbett do we think?

It's looking like Williams will follow in the footsteps of Gladwin and Ian to Crawley to work again with Scott Lindsey. A total triple swoop that would cost the Red Devils around £150.01k if Williams departs.

Newport also set to submit a six-figure bid to "Bring Joniesta Home".

Could get fruity later on.

Would be very happy with FBT on a perm, although I raised an eyebrow at this:

Quote
This has been a deal that has been progressing throughout the window and the club are over the moon to be able to finalise it. Along with the signing of Fagan-Wallcott, the defence looks to be in a stronger place than at the start of the window.

Seeing as FBT was in the squad at the start of the window, the net change would essentially be MF-W for MacDonald, which is difficult to argue as a stronger place you'd think. Maybe in the longer term, not for the immediate goal of getting promoted.

That's what I thought, so the midfielder is an extra as yet unnamed player potentially?

Can't see Williams going anywhere that's not within commuting distance of South Wales tbh. If Rovers were bidding and had decent money it might be a risk. Otherwise, I think we shouldn't worry about it.

Williams lives in Royal Tunbridge Wells in Kent. If he wanted to stay ‘local’ he would be going to Gillingham or Crawley.

MacDonald to Aberdeen

https://www.swindontownfc.co.uk/news/2023/january/angus-macdonald-completes-aberdeen-move/

Swindon Town can confirm Angus MacDonald has left the club and joined Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen, subject to EFL approval.

The 30-year-old joined the club back in July last year following his release from Rotherham United.

The Winchester-born defender has made 16 league appearances for The Robins this season, but was unfortunate with injury limiting further game time here at the County Ground.

He now moves across the border to Aberdeen, who currently sit seventh in the Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL).

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Angus for all his efforts here at the football club during his time with us, and wish him all the very best for the future.

MacDonald to Aberdeen confirmed by official Twitter. They need a centre half after the week they've had!

No mention of a fee at all. I presume there is one!

https://www.afc.co.uk/2023/01/31/experienced-defender-joins-the-dons/

Aberdeen article says short term deal. So he's torn up and 18 month contract with us to join on a short-term basis. It really does read like we've paid him off in the Aberdeen article.

Quote
Aberdeen FC has this afternoon further strengthened its defensive options with the arrival of Angus MacDonald on a short-term permanent deal.

Angus joins the Dons following release from his current club, English League Two side Swindon Town FC.

Something really weird has happened there. To not even ask for a fee for our captain? Imagine we'll never really know.

Read a few things that have said he didn’t turn up for training a couple of times last week? Seems strange that we’d release him though.

Yeah and on one hand that seems really unprofessional.

On the other *if* the club told he they wanted him gone its more understandable (not great though).

But we'll never know the truth though. Just a version.
