It is not unheard of of managers getting an “arrangement fee” for finding a diamond of any age which the club can sell on for good money. All in the small print of their contract. So someone who we could be seen as punching above our weight in getting has unseen and underlying reasons to come here.

Fitton did it as Chairman. Not got a massive issue if its sensible.

Context is key here. An addition and a punt is fine. A replacement for a key player not fine.

But that won't be known until 11pm + fax machine grace period.

I love the thought of Fax machines still being used!

"I shall sign said player and procure a messenger with a telegram on horseback towards the EFL head office to confirm his signing forthwith".

From the Adver Deadline day Thread:

YOUR QUESTION

STFC Boyo : Is it 100% that the Swindon Town will announce their new manager today?

JL: I have a press release in my inbox, finally...

Could mean a statement on something is coming shortly. Probably urinal cake sponsors.

Can't see Williams going anywhere that's not within commuting distance of South Wales tbh. If Rovers were bidding and had decent money it might be a risk. Otherwise, I think we shouldn't worry about it.

I suspect there is a lot of risk associated with selling or not selling Williams, if a decent offer comes in. Yes he may want to stay in the summer but one would suspect that will be very dependent upon what we can pay the guy and what division we are in, thus if someone offers decent money do we accept (and deal with the torch bearing mob outside the ground) or risk not getting a penny (and deal with the torch bearing mob outside the ground) if we hang on to him and decline offers.

Does he live or have connections in South Wales? He was born in Kent.

Do we think the use of Fabrizio Romano (someone had to explain who he was) in the unveiling video suggests he is going to be a recurring theme today as we announce new players etc?

Naaah, reckon someone called in a favour and that's that.

Think he'll be a bit busy doing other stuff anyway.

Ooooh, this is what the Cameo thing was about : https://www.cameo.com/fabrizioromano

Nah I suspect it will just be this one, to offset people moaning about the delay. I do hope they continue with the porno soundtrack to them all though, that was a nice touch.

When’s Brann back from injury? We desperately need a sub keeper, we’ve been lucky Brynn has always been available. We couldn’t possibly expose Copland to league 2, he’d get eaten alive.

He was at Cardiff before we signed him and I'm assuming family are settled somewhere in S.Wales or local in th S.West as he's mentioned location  being important when he signed and in the press conference when asked about his future recently.

I thought when we first signed him it was mentioned his mother was from or lived in Swindon

I thought so, in the EFL.
Not sure if we can loan out to the National League longer though>
