Can't be assed to start a new thread but there is a Swindon quiz on this site. Again, not relevant to this site but it looks like Port Vale have not fully embraced League 1 football, judging by the hoardes not in there tonight.

Less than 5k home fans? That's good for Vale.

Why has he been put up for transfer?

Is he not happy at Town? does he want to move closer to his home, which I am guessing he still has a house near Hull/Rotherham/Barnsley where he has lived for the last 6 years.

It can't be wages as I doubt Shrewsbury/Burton/Rovers would pay any more than we do as they are all small clubs too.

Or is it that WE want him off the wage bill as hes probably our highest earner.

If its nearer his Yorkshire home then Burton would be the obvious choice and throw in FBT and you could be talking, plus a little more our way of course Wink

Who knows. Feels a little odd as he and Clayton was the best combo we had this season. We are also very light at CB with Harries and Baudry unlikely to play again.

I must admit I only scan read the story but didn't see any suggestion he was listed or what not.

Isn't it just the case of an experienced player at this level having other clubs interested in buying him?

SDM said last night every player has a price.

Every player is for sale if the right money is there arent they. Business sense.

Ah, gotha, I had only read the story that you had quoted that I think Aud shared originally.

As the correspondent from Tansmedia notes everyone has a price and much as with Reed getting a fee for a player you got for nowt makes business sense.... assuming you replace with similar and don't weaken the overall.

There's a difference between "every player has a price" and actively hawking around your captain though - not suggesting that the latter is happening for sure, but it would likely unsettle the squad a bit if there was an active attempt to move a few of them on.

If we can get Tracey in on less money and 3 years younger with potentially resale value then i would go for it.

Macdonald i really like personally but theres just something about him, doesn't look happy to me

MacDonald. Good defender, bad captain (imo - too quiet), doesn't really fit the way we want to play.

I'd be happy to keep him, delighted if we get a decent fee.
