Why leave everything so late in the day the window has been open for several weeks.
Players are cheaper at the last minute, sometimes the better quality ones too

The striker travelled to Edinburgh where his move has been prepared, including photographs, interviews, and a medical. Whilst this was happening Hibernian contacted Swindon Town to renegotiate on the fee that was previously agreed and started to offer lower figures and change the structure of the deal. Swindon held their ground throughout the day as Hibernian continued to try and change the fee and structure.
All the hard work, negotiating and travel appears to have been for nothing as the deal has collapsed hours before the deadline. Leaving the player with little option but to begin his journey back to Swindon to continue into the last year of his contract.
One industry insider had this to say “Don’t think they were ever really serious from what I heard, used it to get others to take notice” – “a Smokescreen”
If that is the case Hibernian fans will certainly be left frustrated and angry by this high profile transfer failure.
Swindon Town fans will also be left wondering what exactly happened, whilst the player has been embarrassed by the club he was attempting to join.

Turn Swindon notifications on? Or you hoping to see names mentioned?

Do enjoy reading what journos have to say and fans too. Although, I'd much rather the Jephcott picture wasn't leaked as it's just caused me stress for the last few hours!

I love the fact we are still signing the 2 attacking players irrespective of what McKirdy does

what because he wanted to better his career? the same as any other player in our squad would given the opportunity. don't delude yourselves into thinking the likes of Williams, Reed etc would stay put it we accepted a bid for them.

Why? Club accepted the verbal offer as well. If he puts his head down which i am sure he will with Adam Hart breathing down his neck we will be ok.

McKirdy will be forgiven the moment he scores. Hopefully, motivating him should be no harder than saying 'you can do far better than Hibs if you've scored 15 by January'

No issue If McKirdy stays as long as he knuckles down. His agent would have known the fee, it’s down to Hibs to pay that.
