Rob Angus said there could be a flurry of activity over the next few days so hopefully the bollocks quota will reduce to 99%.
I know it's stating the obvious, but given the numbers that we have, there can't not be anything but a flurry of activity to get us enough bodies to feasibly begin the season with. Ward and Gladwin are great starts to be fair.

I think the implication is we need the EFL embargo lifted, then the flurry will occur...I think

If there still is an umbongo, how come we have still signed players?

They're all marked "subject to EFL approval". The implication is that this should be a formality now.

We can sign players who are out of contract for a Max wage of £1200 per week & a years contract I believe.

We have/had 2 embargo’s . Embargo 1 is/was related to late payment of wages, HMRC, ground payments etc and prevents us from signing players on anything above a 1 year contract, and also prevents us from signing players on season long loans. This embargo is close to or has been lifted. Embargo 2 is related to the £1m hardship funds we have had off the EFL, this prevents us from offering anything above £1300 a week on wages, which is slightly below the League 2 average. This hasn’t yet been lifted and may take more time. I think that’s right.

I don't really like speculating on players' wages, but it seems a bit unlikely that Ben Gladwin would be such a low earner?
Unless for some reason it covers only basic wages and not bonuses, and he has a big appearance fee, say? But that's such an obvious loophole that it must have been closed.

Think the second one is due to be resolved in the next few days, where is Jan when you need him :-)

Hi All Yes embargo is a couple of days from fully being removed. Currently as stated we are restricted to 1year contracts and max 1200 a week salary and a limited amount of loan players. This is base salary so I assume with addons/performance related elements this can be stretched. We have to pay back the £1m EFL loan and Clem has to provide a guarantee that wages will be paid in the future to the EFL and this will then release all the restrictions. Should be very close and EFL will announce once this is removed.

I assume we could sign players subject to the restricted rules, and then expect to see contracts amended and lengthened possibly swiftly afterwards. Sign for us now, yes you will have a month of modest pay, but we will update month 2.

The fact we've signed Ward and Gladwin is really disorientating as my brain keeps going 'Darren Ward, yes we've signed Darren Ward' when in reality I know he ended up in a glue factory long ago god bless him.
It's like I'm trapped in a time loop destined to repeat the last 10/12 years of being a fan. Who's a controversial, unproven, yet effective ex-player turned Manager we could get in?
Once the EFL loan's paid off I can see us maybe getting 4/5 more 'senior' players in, but tbh I think from what has been said they're looking primarily at younger heads who might not be on the >£1300/week contracts Umbongo2:ElectricBoogaloo is preventing us from going for. And the contracts can always be renegotiated, nothing says you can't sign a contract one week and then have it re-written in a month or so.
Anyone on the release/free transfer list is obviously going to be a priority over actually buying players, I doubt Clem is going to be overkeen on stumping up large wedges of cash with the EFL loan and other possible skeletons Power rammed in the stationery cupboard before leaving.

That's certainly an option yes.. Suspect that's what we have done with Ben G.. I think we have several players lined up and just waiting for restrictions to be lifted to formally announce them etc.

Indeed it was interesting to read Gladwin reference the heat in preseason, which suggests he has been training with them for some time, given last week was rather wet.

Can the £1m EFL loan be paid back in stages, via some sort of repayment plan? Or is it required in a lump sum?
