You sure it's not Nile Rodgers? Would be if Sheridan had to remember him.

Lots of rumours in social media about Anthony Grant leaving to join Salford in January yesterday originating from some EFL transfers page on Twitter I believe.

I know needs must financially but we may as well pack up and go home for the season. I think it's more realistic that Matt Smith gets recalled and loaned to someone else and/or twine gets flogged though

Wouldn't surprise me if Twine was sold to a championship club and then loaned back to Newport, not how much we would get though I know he is a youngster and has come through the youths etc and under 24, but he is also out of contract end of season which would surely reduce any fee.

I have heard that QPR have had scouts watching his last few games (thats from Twines dad) but Mark Warburtons job is in jeopardy after a really poor run of results so that could scupper any deal. https://the72.co.uk/209125/insider-debunks-online-talk-linking-qpr-with-swindon-town-youngster/

I mean, there are plenty of dubious sauces out there but the original poster appears to have nine followers. They do say they have " itk knowledge and my countless agents in my phone book" though, so must be something in that.

I did mention this a few weeks back. Since Grant had assigned his loyalty to Wellens in particular. If you go back to "Blackpoolgate" and concerns as to whether Grant would re-sign for Town, when he eventually did he said:
'...I spoke to the gaffer and me and him get on well...
...When I spoke to him, he said on the radio that I promised I would sign. So I don’t know why all the fans thought I was going...
...I’ve always been honest with him. It’s taken its time but now it’s done.'
Not disputing Grant's loyalty for Town per se but I would suggest that it does lean more towards his previous manager and he only signed for this season based on the previous gaffer - RW. His previous gaffer is no longer here...I don't really want to add Grant to the ever growing list of patrons on the "Good Ship STFC", which appears to be departing with more of our former players for ever increasing reasons.

If I was was Richie Wellens and had seen Grant play this season I wouldn’t want him near my side.

Maybe so but RW does like to fashion himself as some kind of messiah. He did claim that the Ginger Pele "only scores goals for me". Also could be the factor that many players (like it or not) will stop performing to their absolute optimum for a manager they don't want to play under. I'm not saying this is Grant per se but we do see this in football - and normal day jobs too. The difference is, if we made this obvious, then we wouldn't be in a job...

Not really fair, he would walk into the majority of league 2 sides. I agree he hasn't been anywhere near as dominant as last season, but we have gone up a level, have nowhere near the same quality of players playing around him, is surrounded by a group that is devoid of confidence and has been playing whilst injured and without any sort of break. Taking all this into account, it's hardly surprising he is not quite hitting the heights of last season.
