Could Gareth Barry do it, protect his investment?

Maybe a couple of years too late, but I'd have loved to have Ferry back to fulfil the Doughty replacement.

I think we'll look more for a Rolls Royce to go alongside the Land Rover Defender that is AG. Wonder if the Huddlestone link was ever legit? Can't even remember where it came from.

Someone in the deep-lying playmaker role would be ideal, and could play a little further, ahead of a double screen in tougher away games.

He retired when his WBA contract ended.

Some goals from Joel Grant who had a 100% scoring record for Plymouth at the CG last season. 2 games 2 goals.

Given the doubt about Grant's character after fallings out at previous clubs he's been an absolute hero and a fantastic role model to the youngsters since his arrival.  Such an important part of the dressing room and the team in general.

He is a leader on the pitch and a good bloke to have around the dressing room too.

We have a few players like that and several players have been club captains at their previous clubs, Caddis, Baudry, Conroy, Fryers, Pitman and Grant was captain for Port Vale and Southend on occasions.

Lots of leaders, thats got to be great for the young lads coming through.

Even the most wildly optimistic amongst us know we are not going to piss this league, indeed there are going to be games where we are backed up against the wall or have a perfect storm of things going wrong and or against us. Having players as Venks just mentioned in the squad, in the dressing room and on the pitch is going to be essential.
