Ireland is a bizarre situation.  I've only just realised his last game was in the Premier League and only a few seasons ago.  I had assumed he was gradually moving down before his career break.  And that's the odd bit - how has he managed to go from Premier League to no club, without retiring?  I know he had an injury, but still, you'd think someone would have gambled before us.  I never really liked him, but for our level, assuming he can get fit, he'd surely be a class above?

Where are Woolery & Isgrove training and why are they being allowed to decide by the end of the week two weeks before the season starts!

They have been offered something. They haven't accepted it. We have tried to get other (better) players (from context), but the ones we want are too expensive. Also those that Wellens wants to make sure of, wont come on trial, because they are confident they can get what they want somewhere. Wellens said that he wanted to get 5 players in, with the majority sooner or later. He is going to start to work on the way he wants the team to play from this weekend's games. So having their situation sorted by then is important.

If they’re not training, then do they seriously think that shows them to be players that any decent club would want?
I think they’re both looking less likely by the minute.  Wellens has neatly increased the pressure on them without saying anything very specific.

surely they'll be keeping themselves fit, if not match sharp.

it's a big game of chicken isn't it, one that will be prepared to lose

Come this week end it's only two weeks until the season starts with no pre-season

No comment from Wellens regarding Norwood is positively optimistic coming from him!

The loan system needs changing. It doesn’t feel right that a team can have 5 (I think this is the number anyway) loan players in their first team squad. That’s nearly half a team being made up from players contracted to other clubs. Yes we benefited from it last season and many fans wouldn’t complain if we found a few more gems via this route who got us promoted from league 1 this season.

I think a max of 2/3 loan players should be allowed to play in the first team. This might help stop bigger teams like Chelsea stockpiling young talent and loaning then out for a fee.

We benefit from it every season. Apart from the January recall period there's no major difference between a loan and a one year contract.

I agree that there should be changes in the transfer market long term though.
