Still don't agree with you on this. Their frontline was pretty impotent last season (bar Gnanduillet who's left) and Yates will be going there with a realistic chance of being first choice striker. Shame to miss out on him but good luck to the lad. As Panda Paws says, there'll be decent players available for less in a month's time.
No I am not debating that hes better than what they have/had, there is no doubt that they were pretty poor up front, hence them trying to sign him, Yussuf and Keshi already.
But my point about quantity of players does still stand, they have offloaded Gnanduillet from their forward players, plus a few on the edge of the team but they do still have Keshi Anderson, Ewan Bange, Nathan Delfouneso, Ryan Hardie, Gary Madine, Joe Nuttall, Tony Weston, Adi Yussuf and Sullay Kaikai as contracted attacking options vying for a few starting places.
That doesn't mean that several won't be sold prior to the season start but when players like Madine, Kaikai, Delfouneso, Nuttall and Hardie who are all signed as first team players are underperforming then they will have difficulty in offloading them, all said to be on very good wages too.
Any new signing would look at that and question if he was being signed to be their backup or as first choice, meaning there would be a fair few unhappy more experienced players there who were probably promised the same, by the previous manager.
I just think he needs to think long and hard about this move as I think Blackpool wouldn't be the right one for him at this stage of his career.
