My head says we have to replace the Parkin and Mooney (or Austin/on form Paynter) type partnership.0 In 9 days. In January.

That is why I hope some fans adjust their expectations accordingly - to have two players scoring as freely as Doyle and Yates did is extremely rare, let alone loanees.

It is simply unrealistic to expect 2 like for like replacements especially given Wellens’ earlier comments about expecting to have Yates all season.

Who would take our two replacements being Bennett and Hope? At this stage in the window, I think we’d have to.

Those 2 would be poor goalscoring replacements which is what we need.
As to expectations, if we go from top to playoffs after this window a lot of the good will and feel good will ebb away.
Already seen many comments on twitter alluding to such.
Tough ask to replace those 2 loanees, wouldn't be so bad if we had a striker of our own.
No, dont count Twine as such.

Next 9 days could be fun

I think it is likely to be Bennett and Hope, thats a massive come down from Doyle and Yates but they could do a job, we need bodies thats for sure.

Whoever we get now will seem like a downgrade on Yates and Doyle though.

Neither are strikers so wouldn't be replacements. #shitReg

Neither Bennett or Hope are out and out strikers. I can see one being a replacement for Yates, but not Doyle.

Bennet’s not even a striker. Same as playing  Isgrove there.

Bear in mind when Wellens said he wanted a wide player and a striker at that point we had Yates, so now it will be 3 attacking players, Hope, Bennett and an out and out striker hes after.

So, we get Hope and Bennett just to replace Woolery and Isgrove?

What’s the point of that?

Thats what Wellens said just over a week ago, not my words...his. I suggest you ask him that question.

He said he wanted a wide attacker, a number 10 and an out and out striker, as well as his midfielder and centre back.

So now after Yates departure another striker can be added to that wanted list.

as above, Hope and Bennett would be just odd as replacements.

I'd be disappointed

I'm sure Bennett can play through the centre as well? Don't know about Hope.

I would be disappointed with them IF we don't get a proper striker in as well.

If we get a goalscoring striker then I think Bennett would be the number 10 Wellens has stated a few times he wants and Hope would be Yates replacement.

Hope is a wide striker much like Woolery in style, yes he can play centrally but prefers not to.

We need to replace 2 strikers. Not replicas of what we’ve already got. DJ, Woolery, Isgrove, Anderson (when fit). How many more of these sort of players does Wellens want ffs.

1) I suspected Wellens is well aware we need to replace strikers with strikers. He has said so himself.
2) At no point has he said he would sign BOTH Hope and Bennett. In fact, previous comments suggested he was after only one. (And it might be neither of those two - these are only rumours)
3) It would be good to have one or the other as an extra body. A lot of people were saying Grant was a pointless signing...
4) He's shown so far that he knows what he is doing. In Wellens we trust. Or at least I do anyway.
