So, Jerry Yates was Wellens’ number 1 target this season - ahead of Maynard and Mayor! Woolery to play more as a striker than a winger.
Also confirmed 3 CBs, 2 attacking fullbacks and a 3 man midfield is his formation this coming season.
Looks like we’re either going to blow teams away or get caught with sucker punches.

If Yates was the No 1 target then I cannot see us getting any other striker who is 'known'. Maybe Robinson and Bennett. We have the players to get down the flanks and get crosses in the box but I don't know who, amongst the current players, will get on the end of them.?

Could be clever management by Wellens. Should make Yates feel pretty good about life, but at the same time puts a bit of pressure on for him to deliver.

Not sure it means anything, but Doyle is following Wellens on Twitter - May be, of course, when they were both at Oldham.
He is also following Danny Rose, Kyle Bennett and, bizarrely, Alan Navarro!

If we’re struggling to come up with a financial package, I can’t see how Newport can.
Anyhow, he wants to come back here - which I fully expect to happen.

Does not mean we havnt bid for him..... Wellens stated in a previous interview he is looking to get 2 strikers - 1 a Perm 1 probably a loan..... The Premiership or Championship striker may be the Loan...... The Perm could well be Doyle ... Until the deal is announced we cannot be sure...

The word on the street is that the bid for an un named Championship striker is apparently Zach Clough, they are holding out for £250k and we bid less than that. Oldham are also planning a transfer bid for him.
Jason Cummings told he can leave Forest too who could be the number 10 player but probably well out of our price range being a current Scottish international who just hasn't settled at Forest.

Zach Clough is more of a 10 than a 9. Could be a good signing but gone right off the boil, albeit at higher levels.

Excellent at Bolton, poor at Rochdale. Definately a number 10 "in the hole" player, I see there are Premiership loan strikers on Wellens list too apparently.

Looks as though Cummings has some issues as well....Posh wanted rid of him when he was on loan there, for loss of form and off-field problems.
