Yeah but what did Kevin Amankwah's dad have to say on the matter?

Perfection is not attainable

Oh right, thanks for the clarification. So if we get past Thursday we should be good -  unless Ipswich decide at some point to start bedding him in for league 1.

(I'm assuming there is a break clause)
Yeah I doubt Ipswich will call him back unless they themselves have a major defensive injury crisis, if they thought he was ready for their first team I think they would have recalled him when he went back to them in all honesty.

My thinking was if they are mathematically stuffed they may look at him with next season in mind.

I guess either way its not going to make or break our season though.

From a Millwall fan who posts on a football league forum - (again, could be hearsay but worth sharing)

"From what I’ve heard, Swindon made a decent offer for him but we quibbled over a few pennies. Poor form from the club, IMO. I hope we don’t fuck him about like we did Marquis. He deserved better and so does Sid."

From his perspective, he’s likely to have more options in the summer, a chance of a League 1 club, more leverage to negotiate a good deal, and he gets the remainder of this season on his (likely higher) Millwall wage. It’s easy to forget the real world factors...

We were paying 100% of his wage.

That wage changes (probably down) if he signs for a new club.

I understand the possibility of that but if Millwall wouldn't accept our fee then we never got to negotiate terms with Sid. In any case, what would he be on as a 4th/5th choice CB? £2k? Especially with his future potentially in doubt (not renewed his contract and ends in June), even if a club offered him a little less £1.8k he'd likely take it. I don't know his exact wage (I'll have to ask his Dad!) but if we were paying his wages anyway, why would it be definite that his wage would go down. He could just be on the same?

I don’t know. I just assume, rightly or wrongly, that Millwall are likely to pay a reserve centre back more than we pay a first choice, and that Nelson has nothing to gain from taking any offer in the table now, when he’ll have more choices in the summer.
