Just had a look at the Southend forum and Ferdinand seems an odd one.

By all accounts, he had a blinding first season, with many attributing a turn around in form to his arrival. The next season, though, seems to have been quite the opposite for some reason.

weird, just come off shrimper zone and was going to say same thing.

Impression I got was they thought his legs aren't up to it any more (he's only 33), with the suggestion that he's as mobile as a blimp!

Not sure that sounds too good!

48 minutes and 48 seconds.  No panic.  We left it till the 99th minute the other Saturday.

Clever move. Means he can negotiate a deal elsewhere outside of the transfer window now. No reason for him to go anywhere before 5pm today.

I think Brown is actually comfortable with what he has, for all the talk.  Nelson has potential to be useful at this level (some chasing the ball that needs to be coached out, but he has more about him than the rest).  I would not be surprised if he isn't thinking that some coaching, a return of Conroy and Diagarouga getting fit and not sent off will largely "solve" his issues.  The goals for side and chances created clearly shows we have enough going forward.

Is there any Flashheart like trolling going on?  Have we signed 3 players on the hush not to be announced until after the deadline?

As with any player who's not attached. I'm not fussed if we dont get some loan signing, it's not the end of the world.

You haven’t had to watch a centre back partnership of Romanski and Lancashire have you?

Jesus. Still time to announce something I guess but if there’s no incomings, I can’t help but feel the manager has messed up here.

The manager does not do the negotiating, that's down to Power and Steve Anderson - mostly Anderson!

We could do a lot worse than Ferdinand IMO.

Still very disappointing we didn't bring in new bodies though.

Only players that are free agents before 5pm today I believe. I thought if you were released from an existing deal after the window closed you weren't able to sign for somebody else until January.  Hmmm Hmmm
