I doubt any team loaning out any player over the age of 24 will not expect the loaning team to pay a large (75% at least) chunk of their wages TBH as we did with Hussey, we covered all his wages from Sheff Utd.

That maybe so but isn’t this player is coming back from a serious injury? Surely if they want him out on loan to prove his fitness then it is up to us to say how much if anything we’re prepared to pay to facilitate his ongoing recovery? Assuming he fits into where and how we intend to play.

It makes perfect sense he would want to go on loan if he thinks he won't start regularly with Millwall.

It does for him, still cannot see how it does for Millwall, unless I suppose they can recall him at anytime, so possibly a short term benefit for all - plus nowt to say his 1 year contract hasn't got various extension add ons in it?

Just because other teams may have done it, it doesn't mean others have to. If Millwall want him to go on loan then they would probably need to compromise... or he stays where he is. We are not obliged to take on wages we cannot afford.

They won't be able to recall until January.

Having not looked at Millwall's business over the summer he may now be surplus to requirements, probably offered a new contract as an insurance policy in case they didn't get what they wanted in his position.

It's probably a loan in the event of them needing a CB come January, at least he will already be theirs and they will know what they are getting.

A free transfer which to most would make more sense means once he's gone he's gone.

Indeed.

And in those 6 months, Millwall have a choice of him sitting on the bench or rotting in the reserves on full wages, or getting games elsewhere with some of his wages being paid by another club.

It's nothing groundbreaking. It happens all the time.

He was out a full season with Cruciate ligament damage that needed a couple of operations to fix.

A 6 month loan would make more sense than the mentioned season loan, definately.

Most season long loans have a break period in them after 6 months anyway, I’m sure it was mentioned Alzate’s season long loan will be re-assessed in January.

Either way and whatever may transpire a full medical would precede any loan arrangement.

Don't let him go swindon with there cunt of a manager

He wants a league 1 club

Sid will go on loan Ben should go on loan, Both could be playing somewhere else by this time next year, Both from staunch Wall families so hope they make it.

Not forgetting Mr Power is a Wall fan.

Walsall will get relegated this season. Best he comes here.

Apparently Matt Preston was offered a contract to return to Walsall in the Summer but they couldn't match the wages that Mansfield offered him.
