Would be a good signing on paper. Chesterfield fans have nothing but good to say about him.

Wouldn't be a bad signing. Can play all across the back which would be useful considering our lack of players there.

Was on trial at Rotherham earlier this month.

I have a pretty good feeling I can guess! and it won't be pretty!

Probably a similar reaction to some of our 'special' fans on social media.

Aren't most signings on paper?

Sam Hird would be a solid signing, as others have said he had a trial with Rotherham last week but it hasn't come to anything, very experienced but has never played outside of the Yorks/Derby area so may prefer to stay up (mid)North if it came down to a choice for him.

Seems highly regarded by fans of all the teams he has played for.

Does anyone know what type of centre back he is?  I think we could probably do with more of a bully, good in the air CB type rather than a passing/sweeper Conroy type (i.e a crap Vidic rather than a crap Ferdinand).

He is more of a ball playing defender has filled in at DM in the past, is not massive only 6 foot so more like Conroy than a big brute of a CB.

Very highly rated when at Leeds, played a fair few games at Championship level but slipped off the radar a bit in recent years.

Having read the Rotherham article its clear he wasn't on trial but was filling a gap to allow games to be played.

Someone who covers RB and CB and has been good enough to get promoted from league two and get to league on play offs in the past. Would seem to be a decent signing.

Not the no nonsense 6'5 CB i think we need to counter some of the league 2 outfits we will face though.
