Quite rightly, although frustrating, the club now keeps its business close to its chest.

Apart from the PR bids, of course.

I still expect Ajose and Kent.

Without Kasim, Stewart (the Irish kid) and Williams and with Smith and Byrne possibly being sold we are woefully short for the next few games as I don't believe we can get them called off as Williams is classed as a youth loan.

Brophy up front on his own anyone?

I'm pretty sure that they have replacements lined up for Smith and Byrne if they go. They're just keeping their cards close to their chests.

If they haven't, it's bordering on incompetent given the state of the bench on Saturday.

Now, we're no strangers to incompetence, but I really, really hope (and believe) that this lot know what they're doing.

I do agree Barnard, I reckon we've got deals more or less lined up. I suspect Power is just trying to get the best deals possible - sell ons for Byrne and Smith for example as with the right coaching Byrne can go reasonably far I reckon.

What will be, will be. I have zero expectations ahead of the end of the transfer window. I'm neither optimistic or pessimistic.

I'm more looking forward to keeping an eye on it at work and reading comments of people going fucking mental over the days events.

I'm looking forward to sitting in a bar/on the beach in Bodrum checking the Townend every now and then to see who we are bringing in. Should be entertaining.

This view for me too.

I left a bit early on Saturday with Jutty but neither of us felt angry....just a little disappointed.

The window closing will give us a good indication of how we will end up. It's a bit of a knife edge at the minute for me.

I suspect Stewart could be the Byrne replacement.

Even the 'derisory' bids Power has made in recent weeks suggests money will be spent if necessary, and the Stewart purchase confirms this. However, I'd be amazed if we splashed the cash to get someone like Bradshaw even if we got decent cash for Byrne.

Not a rumour, but how about tempting £100,000 bids for Carlisle's Ibehre and Bury's Pope?

They have no resale value, so not a chance.

No way we will pay money for players of that age, Lefty.

More chance of signing the real Pope from Vatican City.

Sure, I agree they would go against the current model, but some form players will always have a bit of resale value regardless of age, especially if they have a good fitness history.

Bradshaw could be an interesting case. Presumably, we'd have him if the price was right, but he has a dodgy reputation regarding his fitness. It would be a gamble spending several hundred thousands on him, and his fitness history could mean that we might never be able to recoup on such an outlay.
