I think the Ajose thing stems from Cooper telling some people on here, and some of the London Reds, at the sponsors dinner that he was keen to return. Someone's put 2 and 2 together and come up with a rumour, which, in this news desert, people have latched on to.
FWIW. I think Ajose is a decent player at this level, and would be a great addition to our side, particularly if we are playing a 4-3-3. However if his wage demands are as high I suspect, is he worth breaking our so far successful structure for? Of course not.

The only thing that genuinely bothers me about the Power model is the short termism of it.
Players getting 1 year contracts or 1 + 1 is not something to build on. Any good, young prospect will obviously be sold to balance the books, so I can understand people's frustrations. But it is what it is and until, or if, some loaded nutter wants to buy Power out it's how it will be.

Bentley, Toffolo, Mawson, Goldson, Turnbull Kent, Francombe, , L Thompson, Moncur, McLeod, Ajose
All rumoured to be signing up. Pretty decent 11 shame it even surpasses the 80% bollocks ratio

Maybe I expect more from the club I've supported for decades than a bunch of non-league trialists. I've never felt so low about this club (apart from the Diamondis years, obviously) than I do at the moment, and you preaching to me is not going to change that.
You mean replicating the model that a) has us (reportedly) in the best financial position in a long time and b) resulted in our best season (in terms of league position) since we finished bottom of the secondd tier 15 years ago.... You've never felt so low... Really?

If it were possible that could actually surpass 100% bollocks I would say not one of those will be a Town player by the end of August.

It makes absolutely no difference at all how long you've supported the club to be frank, most of us on here have supported the club for most of our lives. Every club will take on some non league trialists, Fulham had Smalling for about 18 months after signing him from Maidstone before utd spent 7 mil on him. We just sold Gladwin for millions 18 months after we signed him for 20 grand, our current Swindon team is at it's best when non league drop out Kassim is at his best. If you'd rather we spend x amount on somebody you've heard of that is going to be average to ok for a couple of seasons before leaving on a free then fair enough but don't play the 'club i've supported for decades' card, I have too and I'd much rather support a club that genuinely has a scouting network rather than spend hundreds of thousands on players because they had good games against us (see collins and rooney).

What depresses me is not that we have picked up the odd gem like Gladwin or Flint, because clearly there are players to be found, but that it is an absolute joke that we could even consider a player like Ajose who, after all, has played 5 games in the Championship in the last 5 years. That is now so clearly far above our level.

I think Brophy looks more promising than Gladwin did at this stage last season. Ajose is said to be on £5k+ pw at Lids and anyway we couldn't afford his wages when he was on loan from Peterborough so why do you think we could afford his wages now with a smaller budget?

It's not about 'levels', it's about our recruitment policy. The 'level' of club looking at someone like Ajose... maybe Oldham, or Barnsley, Donny.... didn't compete in the league last year. A league we did bloody well in.

Then doesn't that tell you that we shouldn't pay a player who has played 5 games in the championship those wages

For some reason Brophy doesn't excite me at all. This is based on absolutely nothing.

It's all in the name. James Brophy sounds like a decent player - maybe cos it rhymes with Trophy!
We had a youngster years ago called Tobin - I had a similar scenario set out for him.
Alas, he never made it. Not even close.
