I'd have thought Ribeiro is a bit old for us at 25, unless the high command think we'll need a bit of experience for this season to stay up.

Given we'll have something like 15/16 new players, I'd think the first target is 52 points, and then go from there.. The hope has to be that this season is consolidation, get the newbies some experience and then hopefully push on in 16/17.

Well you've been spot on in each of the last few seasons to be fair

I'd agree with this. We'll be alternating yearly from now on until promoted:

Year A: Sell best players from previous year, recruit young & inexperienced, regroup, season of experience
Year B: Bolster the side and push for promotion

IF PROMOTED: Bolster again and sell one or two assets and focus on staying in the Championship.
IF FAILED PROMOTION: Go back to Year A and start again.

The good thing about this model is that we're clearly goos at it. If we have a Mass/Gladwin/Kasim etc every summer we're guaranteed a return. So we're going to keep making money, which is good to see.

Yep....at least we know where we are, can sit back and hopefully enjoy seeing some new talent develop.

I will wait on my judgement of the forthcoming season until we have made a few signings rather than knee jerk reactions that seem the norm on here of late.

Yes we may sign a few gems we can sell on, yes we may have a shit season and get relegated, yes we may have a great season and get promoted, yes we may have a mediocre season and just miss out on promotion/relegation, who knows when we have made exactly zero signings so far.

But to say we will be in a relegation fight on the 10th of June is a bit ultra negative isn't it?

Old enough not to command a compensation fee, and young enough to improve and sell on at a later date.

The chances of uncovering a Luongo/Gladwin/Byrne/Kasim on a regular basis is slim.

If we had just sold Luongo and used the money to up the wages of the others to keep them plus add a couple of new faces, we would have had a cracking chance of auto promotion next season in what looks like an even poorer league.

This starting from scratch every 2 years is, eventually, going to fuck us up.

A successful team has to build on solid foundations not just hope a new group of players can continually emulate the previous side.

I probably said similar last year when Pritchard/Mason/Ranger etc left

Cooper if he's still here next season, will need to be mindful that it's entirely possible to go from Wembley failure to Div 4 in a season....we've done it, Orient did it this past season.

Therefore on building his new side, his first aim should be 52 points.....nothing to do with negativity just basic management.

A Colchester fan has posted on the Football Rumours website that we're in talks with George Moncur.  I know most of the stuff posted on there is shit but this could actually be plausible as he fits our criteria of player.
