£500,000 on players is still less than we paid Di Canio's mate while in League Two.

So we got a new squad for the same figure as what Bournemouth paid for Matt Ritchie.....

The problem is he is right though.

After losing at Shrewsbury we had many fans posting that we were shite & heading into oblivion, I even had someone in the DRS tell me at half time against the Pikeys that we were going to get relegated because we couldn't score any goals.

We are going to have some bad days this season, and the concern is we have a number of fans who will turn on the team very quickly.

At the moment things are looking good, but we have some tough games coming up & I just hope that if we do struggle in those games that the crowd stick with the team & don't get on their backs.

Spot on in my opinion. It's so easy to be reactionary as a football fan - emotions are naturally heightened when you're invested in the outcome so every win makes you think we'll win the league and similarly a defeat makes relegation a certainty.

It's obviously somewhere in between as you say, and while it looks to me that we're likely to have more good days than bad with this group, two performances on billiard table pitches against footballing sides have probably played to our strengths - there will be tougher tests and ones we're less suited as is to respond to.

Things looking a lot brighter than when we had one senior striker a few weeks ago though, certainly.

Edit: OST beat me to it and nicely said in two lines what I've clumsily said in two paragraphs.

The Advertiser understands Swindon Town have turned down a bid from an unnamed Championship club for midfielder Yaser Kasim.

250k apparently!

good news is that he's impressed more than just us so far this season.

As i've said before, got to get him tied down to a longer contract

Does anyone know how long Kasim's contract is? Do we have an option on it?

7 games in. Christ, I guess that sums up his impact.

On the face of it, getting a player for free then selling him for £250K a month later is great business, but I think he'll be pretty key for us. Definitely need to keep him, and hopefully he appreciates we gave him a chance when no one would touch him.

Reading a little about him it sounds like he's going to play on the wing for us. We have plenty of options for the front 3 now with Ranger, N'Guessan, Reis, El Gabas, Pritchard and Storey. Let's hope El Gabas and N'Guessan look as good as the other signing's we have made!

I suspect N'Guessan is a more physical option on the left hand side to Pritchard. Ajose also looks more of a wide man in a front 3, or as one of a front 2, rather than a lone front man. No idea about El Gabas' preferred role - he's 5 ft 10 and looks fairly slight, which isn't to say he can't play as a lone striker, but he may more more likely another wide option.

And on Kasim - word travels fast. He is 22, seemingly with a far more mature football brain than someone with his experience. If Luongo is worth a 3 year deal (to protect the investment that we have made), let's offer the same term to Kasim, to protect an equally valuable asset.
