That last bit contradicts itself. A tad confusing.

How so? 5 loans in any matchday squad. But we can sign 4 of any type + 1 youth from any one club. We can also sign on a very short term basis an emergency loan keeper from any club we like.

I'm with BR, otherwise surely you would have to also re-interpret 52.2.1, thusly:

52.2.1 A maximum of 5 loan Players (of each of the following types: Standard, International, Emergency or Youth) can be named in the Players listed on a team heet for any individual match played under the auspices of The League. This figure shall include any additional loan of a goalkeeper approved by the Executive under the provisions of Regulation 54.

I suspect a typo in 52.2.2 and that is should read:

52.2.2 No Club may sign more than 4 loan Players (Standard, International, or Emergency or Youth) from another Club (or club) in any Season. An additional Youth Loan Player may be added to this figure.

It says you can sign NO MORE than 4 loan players from another club, including youth, from another club. It then goes on to say you can sign an additional youth although the first sentence already said NO MORE than 4.

Like JJ said, it is very ambiguous.

No it isn't.

4 loan players, mixed any way you want. As in 4 youths. Or 4 standard or 2 of each. Or or.
PLUS one youth in addition.

If you cross out youth it becomes ambiguous as to whether they count towards the 4 you are allowed. Without it crossed out they unambiguously do count.

I swear you guys must write 3GPP standards documents Smiley

I do have issue with this:

Quote
from another Club (or club)

why the distinction between club and Club. I've not found a definition of lower case club..Assuming it shouldn't say "clubs", but surely not..

You could be right actually.

Yeah, fair enough.  Think it could have been worded better though.

Based on this:

Quote
'Club' means any Association Football club which is, from time to time, a member of The League, save that where the context so requires in Section 6 of these Regulations, a reference to a 'Club' shall also include clubs from time to time in membership of The Premier League.

I believe Club is a League or Premier League club, club includes non-league and foreign clubs.

Genuine question: Have you seen them play or based on reputation.

Some do look good on paper, but have presumably had experienced heads around them when they have played league football.

Obviously I hope you are right.

My Peterborough supporting mate was very disappointed we got Pritchard based on what he saw of him in the championship last season. I rate Byrne and luongo. If the other loanees are as good, I think we'll be ok.

Yeah that makes sense.

Also I didn't find a rule about total number of loans, so technically we could sign 4 Man City players tomorrow. But we could only name a total of 5 loans.

This?

Quote
53.2.5 A Loaning Club can have a maximum of 4 Players under 23 and a further 4 Players over 23 registered on a Standard Loan during any Season. The deadline for determining a Player's age in this respect shall be 30 June prior to the Season in which the Standard Loan is intended to take place.

Edit: Actually, I'm totally confused now because Youth does not mean under 23 as far as I can tell, so that means you can have 4 youth and four non-youth, of whom only two can be over 23 from the same club, but all of whom can be over 23 if from different clubs? WHY SO COMPLICATED! Suicide  Couldn't they just have made a nice simple rule like, "you can have up to 4 loan players of any age from anywhere you like at any one time, up to a total of 8 in a season" or something like that?

Thanks, that partly answer it yup. Though as you say, standard loans differ from youth loans. So anything qualifying as a youth loan is not governed by 53.2.5.

I think I've lost the will to investigate further!

Same here!  Ludicrous that they thought it necessary to put in so many ifs and buts.

Judging on how confused everyone is getting with the rules,

I think we're going to walk the league and have it won by April then get demoted for playing to many players from one team.

Bizarrely, given all the mad shit we've had to put up with down the years, and I can remember "Bronco" Layne who got banged up for match fixing....we've never been docked points for fielding an ineligible player, which given the amount of players/ loans in and out some seasons, is surprising.
