We've never had what is considered top young talent on loan in these numbers though have we. I know some peoples concerns over the spurs link, but 4 players from a top 6 club is good. If it was 1 from 4 different clubs surely we'd of lost something with lack of understanding they already have.

I think that without "the informal arrangement" (whatever it might be), we wouldn't stand a chance in hell of getting some of these players. Pritchard and Mason, maybe Luongo would probably all be at Championship clubs.

I know some are concerned that we're missing out on players of better quality at other prem clubs, but I'm not sure they'd be available to us.

Spurs aside I think you can count on the fingers of one hand the loan signings we've had from premiership clubs in the last 5 years, and some of those have been bottom of the barrel type signings when we were desperate in the January window.

Timlin I think is probably the last one that we thought anything of and actually used and wanted back.

The loans as far as I'm concerned are the best crop of loan signings we've ever made in a closed season. If we'd signed this lot last season I think most fans would have been delighted.

I agree, and ideally with experience behind them. If Ward gets injured at the moment the team lacks leadership and understanding of league football. I think there are questions over Williams attitude and he's the second mot senior pro there. They need a midfield general (Douglas or Hollands type) and a forward who can bully teams and that we can play off, dare i say it a Mooney type player.

I've only seen the guys who were here at the end of last season play a couple of times. The rest not at all. Same as with most of the loan signings we make to be honest.


But I think that over the last five closed seasons if someone had said "how do fancy bringing in half the Spurs development side  for the season" most of us would have considered that a decent bit of business.

It's the losses to the permanent elements of the squad, and doubts over what might replace those elements that is the concern.

Forgot about Danny Ward. Yeah, he was more like the decent loan youngster we used to get when we were in the 2nd rung down. They've been a bit few and far between while we've been in the lower leagues. Most of what we've got from Prem clubs in the last 10 years has been the left overs after the Championship clubs have had their pick.

It does but not from Spurs only 4 per team allowed. And only 5 loanees in any 1st team squad.

I think the youth loan doesn't count to the 4 from one team, Morshead seems to think so.

Looking at Football League regs, Town can still take another Spurs player on a youth loan. Or at least that's what garbled text reads like.

Interesting, must admit the way I read the rules it was 4 from any 1 team but with no mention of youth loans being taken into account, he could be right.

52.2.1 A maximum of 5 loan Players (Standard, International, Emergency or Youth) can be named in the Players listed on a team sheet for any individual match played under the auspices of The League. This figure shall include any additional loan of a goalkeeper approved by the Executive under the provisions of Regulation 54.

52.2.2 No Club may sign more than 4 loan Players (Standard, International, Emergency or Youth) from another Club (or club) in any Season. An additional Youth Loan Player may be added to this figure.

The last part is a bit ambiguous.

I'm more than sure Spurs and Swindon are 'on it' when it comes to league rules and this arrangement.
