He never revealed but he did say at the time that it was nothing to do with Bostock.

Hopefully the PFA tells us to pay him a nominal sum to terminate his contract and he can sign for Oldham and we can move on. Surely Rooney wants to play football so fingers crossed we can come to a suitable arrangement to keep everyone happy.
But a messy situation certainly.
