Chesterfield reportedly cooled their interest in Navarro due to wages so you'd think that Roberts would be similar.

Yes, can't see Chesterfield taking him on unless it was a loan that we pay a % of wages. And I can't see that happening.
I think Roberts is very underrated, but if his wages really are as high as some say then he'll have to go if an offer comes in.

Jed's tweet when asked about the possible departure of Ward:
not currently to my knowledge as we haven't received any offers & would like him to stay
He supposedly wanted Macca to stay, but did effectively fuck all to keep him.

I'm not, I'll leave that to TAH at the alamo! I'm a bit depressed at the prospect of losing 3 good centre backs in one summer though.
Do you think Alan Mac will have had a word in Ward's ear before Brentford's interesst. Or is that not cricket/tapping up?
the tone of your post was as though Ward was already moving into a new house near Griffin Park. I'd be shocked if we let Ward depart following Devera and Flint. Clubs are going to sniff around us but aside from letting Flint leave for an inflated fee we aren't seeing players depart, so why panic?

You assume it is a permanent deal, if things are as desperate as some people suggest then I expect we would consider a season long loan with a club covering a good percentage of his wages. We need to hope the kids who signed pro deals last season are half decent - they aren't going to be just making up the numbers on the sidelines.

We don't know the details of what Macca was offered by Brentford and Swindon, other than the reported terms of the deals and I'm sure there would have been more to it than that. But as far as I'm concerned Ward is a more vital player to keep, plus he is already under contract for next season.

We aren't? How many have gone from what was an already quite depleted squad at the end of last season? Quite a few with more linked to exits and not one player yet signed. Yes, there are a few more weeks to go yet but it's understandable that people are getting a bit nervy.

Chang - you really are the doom-monger tonight.
We don't have a smaller squad than most clubs at our level right now. No way will we be relying on the kids in their first year as pro - one or two of them may well be regular match day squad members but other than that I can see no more than cameos from them. OK - we're not the moneybags of the league that we have been the last couple of years but I'm confident we'll have the resources to potentially have a decent competitive season.
Re Roberts, a season long loan would probably be considered if he's earning as much as reported but it would need to be a good chunk of his wages as we'd need to fund a replacement and make savings to make it worthwhile. That was the reported proposal for Navarro, but Chesterfield clearly wouldn't pay a high enough proportion.

Oh I don't know, what about the half-arsed 11th hour verbal offer of a second year?

I think you may get a shock come August.

If by "linked to exits" you mean a seemingly baseless rumour from some cunt on an internet forum. Frankly I've got more important things to worry about. The worrying capacity of some of our fans, who can be concerned about things that have yet to happen, for which there are no indications of them happening, and even for which they are outright denials, is both impressive and irritating.

I was reacting to the rumour, those are my views IF he moves. It pretty dull to only have opinions after the fact. If we want to reduce budget by £2M+ then we have to listen to offers for higher wage earnrs. IMHO its an inevitable truth, one I don't want to accept readily. I'd imagine as a senior player convinced to drop a league Ward falls into that category.

Jed has said when asked about new players coming in that most are already agreed and just waiting for them to come back off holiday, Simon Church was mentioned which Jed replied with a wink.

I honestly believe that players like Ward, Wes amd others will not leave unless an absolutely ridiculous bid comes in. We may have to reduce the budget further but there are other areas we can trim
