Letting Ferrys contract run this far down is pure stupidity.

Not doing everything we can to keep him would also be stupid. Losing him would be a huge blow. We should be building the midfield around him.

I agree. He's not one of those players whose new contracts should be considered conditional on the outcome of our promotion attempt. He's one of the few players you could say would definitely be worth keeping regardless of what division we're in next year.

In which respect, not sorting this out sooner doesn't really bode well for the effort we're going to be putting in to keep him.

If we lose the holy trinity of Ritchie, Caddis and Ferry (our 3 best outfield players last season) in the space of a year it would go down as one of the worst guttings of playing talent in our history.

Maybe we're waiting to have someone on board with the money to make any decisions on the future...

Shit how long have you followed town? I'm not sure that would even make the top five of talent drains.

I'm not going to play the ranking game but Caddis, Ferry & Ritchie together were excellent. Since leaving Caddis has been a starting RB for a championship club and made re bench for his country, Ritchie has been promoted to the championship and will plying hi trade their next season and in my humble opinion Ferry has the passing ability and awareness to play championship football.

Whatever way you want to dress it up loosing these 3 over the course of 12 months is/would be a massive blow.

I think they are all good players in an average team of players. As Thompson has shown Caddis isn't irreplaceable. I think Ritchie was found wanting when Caddis left and I think Leefer got Ferry spot on - good player but needs to create more IMO. But when you have grown up being spoilt with the like of the original Alan Mac, Moncur, Hazard, Hoddle you can have high expectations.

Yep agree  Ferry is too inconsistent. like him to stay, but he needs to up his game a notch. Caddis was/is a good player, but always seemed a bit of a home performer to me., Prefer Thompson, but he'll be off now he's won a poty award..

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

I've been too gutted at what's been going on, on and off the pitch in the last few weeks to post anything on here (things are now at least looking up a little on the pitch)

But that has cheered me up no end Cool

Just a little harsh, but he was certainly piss poor in his first season when we got relegated.

Ferry has done ok? Only ok? Rubbish...

3 seasons as a regular starter here has seen two league one play offs and a league two title...

I'll challenge that he has not been as good as I think he could have been.  I remember being very positive about him when he first joined, thought he'd be in the Championship by now, easily.  Still our best central midfielder over that period, just not quite what he could have been, and I don't think that he will now achieve everything he could have done if he had kicked on.
