We've done alright with the old fashioned 4-4-2 formation under Paolo.

Cant be a good proper strike partnership though - when you get them right they're lethal.

It's only a week or so until the loan window opens, so it may not be until then that we see some players leave.

Competition for places is quite ridiculous now. Never know anything like it.

It's certainly healthy and forces players to always be at their best for fear of losing their place.

However the risk is that it will be easier for Paolo to drop a player after one bad game, which isn't always going to be the best decision.

I'd be surprised if we don't see at least one or more departures before 11pm tonight.  If not, the players that drop down the pecking order will probably move on when the loan window opens again with a view to a permanent move.  Rooney (Luke) I would have thought being one of them, as it seems a bit like Paolo has decided he doesn't quite fit the bill.  It really wouldn't surprise me to see Ferry move on at some point this season either.

Can't see Luke Rooney leaving, he's one of our four wingers, two players for every position is the norm, no?

I think the reason the Caddis/Rooney deal are season long loans is because in a years time Rooney will be eligible for a Bosman free whilst Caddis will still command a fee as he will still be under contract.

I think Caddis will be out of contract in the summer. Presumably we will offer him a new contract to get a development fee (I assume he's young enough).

He's not out of contract until 2014.

I stand corrected,  thought the extension was one year from now.

But Ritchie and Ferry are summer of 2013, should make for an interesting January transfer window Smiley

Yes, I'd rather like to see Mr. Ritchie signing a new contract right about now.
