Well I suppose we just want them off the wage bill. But also a bit disappointing as they are worth money. Did we pay for them, or get them in on a free?

Paid for both. Both undisclosed at the time, but Connell's transfer was mentioned to be at around £100k and York £50k.

Bit disappointing then. But great support from the board.

This seeming disregard for the financial aspects of our transfer business concerns me a little bit. All right if its sustainable, but what is sustainable?

Some times you have to bite the bullet, give 'em a free, you may not have to pay them off and they are then free to negotiate a decent signing-on fee with their new club.

100k for connell wasn't it? 30k for smith?

Odd that we didn't want a fee for Connell. It's not as though he disgraced himself last season, was it!

I think Ronnie has it right, we need to get rid (fair play cap??) and not asking a fee makes it more attractive - if not to the buying club then the player if he takes what would have been paid as a signing on bonus..

But it still seems like an expensive way of doing business.  Maybe we can afford to operate this way now.  Who knows?  Either way, it would appear that, at long last, Bob Holt's vision has come true.  (Something about shaking and investors and sticks.)

Yes PDC's transfer policy isn't cheap. Especially when you factor in the early crap signings like Atiku, Comazzi and Lanzano.

But the board seem to keep backing him, so you have to think they are happy to fund it. At least in the short term.

Of course its expensive. We don't require an extra 2 million investment for nothing.
