Will be a shame to see Smith go. I thought he'd be decent back up at this level. We never really saw what Cox could do to be honest. Connell doesn't surprise me. Again he could be decent back up but it's clear Di Canio isn't too keen on him.

Was wondering whether stfc fans would predict any more comming in? With the exception of Collins from shrewsbury we have not paid a fee for any of our new signings. Is the transfer kitty so to speak going to be spent on wages alone. I for one was expecting a mixture of both transfer fee and released players joining us. Just after 6 new players in I just can't believe we would get any more I know DiCanio said eight or 9 but I thought he was joking, now I don't know what to believe. Would have liked us to pick off some of the better players of the teams that missed out on promotion.

How's about us getting players from the teams that DID get promoted instead?

I'd imagine they've paid a fair few quid in signing bonuses in lieu of transfer fees.

Was just thinking about our experience when we failed in our play off final to reach the championship and we lost paynter to leeds and then Austin as they were too good players that could play in the league above.

Yes it's possible to get players from the teams promoted but I would imagine there would be some gems that we could lever away from teams with the offer of league 1 football forcing the clubs to sell.

I realise and I wait with baited breath the start of the season in six weeks time. Mind I would have expect to see them before that via pre season friendly games. Thanks for reminding me.

Possible?

What about Roberts and Miller? (And Navarro the season before)

Are these players the best players of the promoted teams and are they better than possibly the gems left in league 1. If there are any, just asking. Also by the sounds of it the biggest profile player we have brought in is Roberts but at what wage cost. Thought with being able to offer league 1 we would not have to negotiate a deal on wages alone.

We've got two players that each played over 30 games in The Championship last season. Another two each played over 30 games for a team who got promotion in League One last season. Another played over 40 for a team promoted in League Two. The final signing scored over a goal every other game for a team towards the bottom of League One.

What more do you want?

Smith turned out better than I thought he would. Not the best passer but physically able. I'm not sure what the story with Cox is, he was never given a fair crack. Less of one than Connell - who should have played more last season but I'm not sure he'd be up to league 1 (nor Smith for that matter).

One things for sure, we are getting better players in to replace them if they do leave (on paper anyway!). Exciting times.

Gems, apparently.

I am bloody ecstatic with the players signed so far.

LittleRed, you are a negative cunt.

People moan when we aren't signing players, and moan when we do? What the fuck.

I'm not really asking or wanting anything and i am relatively pleased the signings we have made but because they have come from higher leagues does not they are going to fire us to promotion. Razor rudduck had premiership experience and played for England can't say I would want him back at the county ground. Maggera was labeled by some as the next yan kholer can't say I'm too
Impressed with him. Im just not gonna get carried away on the hype of players just because they have played at this level or higher before. I'm sure we will see in time though.
