Almost certainly. Fans, as we do, made assumptions and I think we assumed that he was staying (he was out of contract and did okay so it was fair enough). Holmes is the sort of modern player many tend to bemoan (unless he's good) in the sense that he lapped it up in an Oxford jersey against Swindon only to join us a few weeks later gave a bit of lip service, played okay in a good side and buggered off. I wonder if he would have secured a contract at PNE had he stayed at Oxford? Either way, the turn he did on that Vale player before crossing for Benson's goal was lovely and I thank him for that. |

Bit disappointed, I quite liked Holmes myself.
Pretty sure we wouldn't have lost him through taking our eye off the ball. Either we didn't want him/couldn't afford him, or he didn't want us (money/Preston pretty big team for league).
