I thought he always worked extremely hard. The game when he got taken off early (Colchester in the Cup) was pretty bizarre as it was only about 20 minutes in and the game hadn't really taken any kind of shape at that point. No one had the slightest idea why he came off and most people just assumed he had picked up a knock. There was nothing that he did or didn't do to warrant getting hooked off. Well not to us mere mortals any way.
And the next game he played in was at Bristol Rovers. Again he was subbed, just after half time, but was playing far better than Magera who was left on until near the end. That's the last time we've seen him. Apparently he's been seen in the gym a fair bit lately, which doesn't necessarily tie in with lazyness, but might tie in with being away from the rest of the squad?

I havent seen him at the gym for quite a while actually. Obviously that doesnt mean he doesnt go - as I'm only in there for 2 hours a day at best.
I've seen him in there a few times but more so in the jacuzzi than anything else, again doesnt mean when I see him there he hasnt been busting his balls in the gym the previous 3 hours.
Last time I saw him he was driving off in his peugeot 206 with Easyjet after they had pulled up Joe Devera's windscreen wipers!

subbed on, subbed on, subbed on, start, start (subbed), start, start, start, start (subbed), subbed on, start (subbed), subbed on, start (subbed), subbed on, start (subbed), subbed on, start (subbed 26 mins). Kerrouche's appearances. Only 4 full 90 minutes, surprised at that. When he played I remember we discussed how hard he worked in the game. I also remember one of the players saying he was one of those players that didn't show much in training but came alive in games. I assumed he meant skill wise, maybe he mean effort. edit: Oh FFS, should have known DV would have done this to a higher standard already It took me ages.

If truth be known I bet a hell of a lot of pro footballers still do smoke. Sounds as if Wray is trying to build the bridge for Kerrouche so I for one hope he stays and proves a point.

It's definitely an odd one. It's looking unlikely that he's going to be offloaded within the next couple of days and it's also looking unlikely that we're going to bring another striker in, so will be interesting to see whether he features at all over the next few months.
As someone pointed out a few pages ago, it would be ridiculous not to use him if we're struggling up front at any point due to injuries etc. Sometimes the bullet needs to be bitten for the needs of the team?

He's never struck me as being lazy or not putting in a shift, at least when I've seen him play. Incidentally he has probably the best delivery at set pieces out of everyone at the club.
I've heard that the reason Di Canio doesn't play him is simply because he doesn't put in a shift in training.

I agree, if we found the right partner for Benson out of Connell and Kerrouche and went with that we would still then have Connell/Kerrouche, Murray, and Magera as back up.

As I've said he hasnt done much when I've seen him in the gym. Seems lazy in that aspect, very much a corner cutter kind of thing. As some have suggest, he seems the type that during training stands around with his hands on his hips most of the time, cant be arsed, sees it as a chore but then really comes alive when its game time - then when the game is over wants to get the down the pub. Kind of like a sunday league player! He seems a good player when he's on the pitch anyway and has scored goals. On one hand I think we should use him because he is a goal scorer and whilst other aspects of his might be questionable I dont think his effort on the pitch is. On the other hand if you continue to play a player who is lazy in training (assuming that he is) then what sort of message does that send out to the other players? When talking about players who have come in and out the side (Connell I think it was) Di Canio mentioned how good and energetic he'd been in training and that made Di Canio's mind up to start him. ....and for what its worth (nothing) from what I've seen the hardest worker in the gym is Jonathan Smith by a mile with Lukas Magera and Joe Devera some what behind him with Oliver Risser and Alan Connell a bit further back but then again, i'm not there all the time....

If footballers want to smoke that's fine.If it means that you end up not being able to last a full match and not train to well then imo it becomes an issue

Ha, you've seen the size of me - no muscle mass on me!
Due to my shifts I'm usually there between 2pm and 4pm and at a guess the players must finishing training around 3 as thats when most of them seem appear.
I'm not a stalker or owt....

Same with drinking in my mind - no problem with a player having a drink or two in the evenings but when the constant late nights, alcohol, hangovers and driving bans start effecting their conditioning it becomes an issues. No names, Andy Nicholas, Matty Heywood, Sean O'Hanlon and Michael Pook.

I know you say it's after training but does the fitness coach come in with them or is it just their choice of free time?
