#cafc midfielder Karoy Anderson is joining #stfc on a loan-deal until the end of the season.
Announcement expected early next week.
After googling, realised I recognised him for some reason. Worked out it was from Manny Egbo sharing a post match interview of his on Twitter over the summer when he was impressing for CAFC in preseason. He does come across very well for a young guy. I’d be happy with this signing if there is any truth in it, albeit it still doesn’t solve our ‘spine of experience’ problem. https://x.com/mandela_e/status/1683133886497280001?s=46&t=vgEm0NeYn7YpgIEXws-sJQ

also two are perm signings? yes, and? it's good and surprising to see investment that will hopefully pay back later but they don't multiply on matchday!

True, but it does mean a) we still have four loan spots you'd expect us to fill and b) we're perhaps not quite as penniless as rumoured (note: that doesn't mean everything is fine)

My understanding of the fees involved in these deals is they're rather low and common in January for U23 players who've already been told they're getting released at the end of the season.

Yes to be clear I don't think for one second we've paid big fees here, I'm just saying that if the club was 'can't pay the tax bill' levels of broke we wouldn't be adding anyone to the wage bill surely. I'm not saying things aren't tight!

Ah I get you. I'd definitely like to think it was that way too, and I'm sure it is the majority the time too. Know Reading went against that grain in the summer signing lots on big contracts and going for it only to then continue the basket case status. Was also thinking what's really in it for both the club and Clem to go for it if we are failing to pay suppliers as well, as playoffs aren't gonna happen, and despite the state of the playing squad, they should have just about enough PPG in them to reach the magic 46 points to stay up. I'd rather he held off any additional personal investment till the summer.

It's better that we have perm signings than all loans that will move on.

well yes. if they are up to it - it definitely is. if the striker turns into Reece Devine then less so.
get em while you can though, worth the risk if it's not breaking the bank.
We need some experience and know-how in the core now. I don't see that happening this window but the flip side of that is it's not going to reassure anyone wondering whether to renew their season tickets

Double edged sword really. Its great we are signing permanent players, I doubt anyone would argue with that. Both are clearly punts, academy keeper from a premier/championship club and a number 10/striker from a top academy who has talent but has been wracked with injury. Keep him fit and he could be a gem. If he struggles with injury, it's a financial burden.
We are where we are but on the whole, I'm positive about these bits of business, it's the spine of the team now we need to strengthen.
