Unless the striker is still shit hot and has the legs - it would be a pointless signing imo
We already have the ‘winding down player from a higher level whose legs aren’t what they used to be’ with Austin.
Not sure another one of similar ilk is a top priority; even after addressing CB & LWB this week.

They'd be one player essentially wouldn't they? Never play together I shouldn't think. In a week we had two games they'd both get 90 minutes and one replaces the other on 65/70 mins in each game.

That could work but could we afford his wages

Like the Williams/Gladwin scenario that Garner managed so well

Exactly, I was going to say Williams but couldn't remember who the other half of it was.

Agree. With a limited budget, it’s so important that those we sign are committed and able to play, and play well. Bony may be able to, and Flynn is the best judge of that, but on the face of it, it would be a huge gamble. Deeney far less of a gamble - 37 games last season in the Championship. I also wondered about Jutkiewicz…. still a Birmingham player, but 34 and on the bench yesterday. Again, likely to be a long way out of our league unless he wants to finish where it began.

I get the logic but it’s another wage for the same player in essence.

Plus, assuming Austin / RHM is our first choice and Austin can’t play all the time - that’s the perfect opportunity to get minutes into Wakeling…

Just my opinion of course.

Austin is limited though in terms of his minutes. Right now without him we're playing a combination of two quick similar strikers like Wakeling and Hepburn-Murphy together.....which I'm not sure works.

Aye we need a big man, something different. Remember we do have Jake Young and he’s 6.1 and can play in a two up top.
We all know what we need.
Big striker, commanding CB
Some nice rumours floating about and I’m excited to see who comes through the door. No doubt they’ll be a surprise exit too.

What are the nice rumours? Conor Wickham/Bony/Deeney or something else?
