Is someone like Doidge going to come here to fight out to be second choice up front, can't see it happening. Plus if we are as brassic as suggested it would tie up a hefty wodge of wage budget?
You say second choice, even if Austin is fit he'd still get 20 to 30 mins minimum a game.

I wonder why Flynn dosen't make Austin captain for the season
Because a lot of people don't like strikers as captains, and I am one of those. Always prefer a defender or midfielder - let the strikers concentrate on hitting the net rather than trying to organise the team on the pitch.

And can lead to the drop deep syndrome where the striker captain keeps trying to get involved in winning the ball in midfield too much rather than concentrating on scoring goals.
Austin did it last season and Kane does it for England.

I much prefer a commanding centre half or central midfielder as captain they tend to see more of the game and what's happening all over the pitch rather than having their back to the play. The only reason I thought of Austin again as he's the senior experienced pro in the squad but on the other hand Flynn may be planning on taking him off after 70-75 mins to save his legs so will want a captain who will play all of the game.

Not saying it is the case but Austin may not want it either. With the captaincy comes extra responsibilities off the pitch and he may not have the time

Austin doesn’t need to be captain. Look at his league experience, compare that to his team mates. He will make his presence and experience for and towards his team mates without the captaincy throughout every game. I see him being an able assistant to the captain and the greater team.
Wether he wants the captaincy or not is a separate issue. The team do not need him for that.

Agree 100% with all of the above. FBT should be captain IMO...as he was in at least one of the pre season games...

Maybe they don’t rate Minturn?
Wondering why he didn't he go out on loan then with the other fringe players.I think Flynn must see something in him

I don't think he feasibly could with the numbers we had. The two defensive recruits made this week make it plausible now.

Flynn saying he wants 2-3 more in, in addition to those signed today.
Austin captain tomorrow but no decision beyond that - so still trying to sign the man he wants as captain? Edwards?
were flynn say that.

Luke Armstrong, the big Harrogate forward who had a good season has refused to play for them today as he looks for a move. Lots of clubs interested, but the kind of forward we'd like... would imagine we're priced out of that though.

Someone that refuses to play for that reason isn't someone I'd want here personally. Sent from my XQ-AD51
