Apparently the go-to ITK on Grimsby's forum says Danny Johnson is Swindon bound. Loose link of course but a link nonetheless.

I could have put it in the former Swindon players thread, but seems that penalty villain and chief wind up merchant Harry M hasn't endeared himself to Hibs again. Can't really see much way back for him given his personality. Perhaps a season long loan to us next season might be an option?

0 goals and probably about 5th or 6th choice.

It’ll be Supermarine and guest slots in night clubs for him in a few years.
Naturally I’d take 2021/22 McKirdy back. I just don’t think we (or anyone else) is likely to see 2021/22 McKirdy again.

Flynn seems a bit more disciplinarian than Garner. Not sure a return would work out well!

That said, I'd give it a go.

I've seen that elsewhere

Danny Johnson strikes me as an old Luke Jephcott. Not sure I see the point.

We need a big, strong target man IMO.

Would certainly fire up the atmosphere at the CG if nothing else!

If Garner fancies it, Colchester could be a destination.

I was speaking to a fellow fan before the Vale away leg about Harry, and I said he'd be out of league football within 5 years. Even though we were shite this season, he would've been better off sticking around. Having said that, not sure how much Morris would've put up with!

Why not both?

I'm not sure Austin for another year is the right play anyway.

The problem with LJ was that we just never really played to his strengths. Plymouth fans before we signed him said he was a fox in the box and not much else. I think his link up play was pretty good, but ultimately he was pretty wasted in what we were trying to do. I'd happily take DJ on a free. 12 goals for Flynn last season and if Flynn can get the best out of him I don't see why not.

Would Jamille Matt and Danny Johnson be a decent pair. I know some people don't like Flynn using his filofax to get players he's worked with before, and at 30 and 33 are not spring chickens but I wouldn't be disappointed if we went down that route.

I think that's a bit harsh. He's only 23 and has nearly 50 career goals to his name. 18 goals in league one in the 202/21 for Plymouth shows he knows where the goal is. I'll admit his spell at us was pretty disappointing but I don't think you can write him off as being absolutely crap based on that.

Corrected.

I think he will score goals in L2 under the right style and tactics.

Someone like Joshua Umerah from Hartlepool is top of my list for the type of player we need. A big battering ram to occupy a few defenders.
