Villa pissed off with this lad’s loan at Ipswich
‘There is a Plan B in place for Louie Barry involving a loan move to a League Two team in January for him to play week in week out. [@PreeceObserver] #avfc’
First youth player sold by English club- WBA - to Barcelona. Villa bought him back for £800,000 rising to £3.5m

You’d think Grant’s days of playing League 1 football are probably beyond him, but stranger things have happened.

You would and they have, (Curran), what about a loan from January till end of season with Grant going on a free to wherever? Could get something from Wellens for next season, maybe pay as you play? Or go Somewhere else.

Grant could still have a role to play in our team when you get in the depths of winter and the heavy pitches when play slows down a bit and you have to grind out results.
Once Louis Reed got up to speed and Garner ditched two deep midfielders then there isn't a place for him at the moment. Think he slowed us down a bit.

Yeah, I really don't think there's an agenda against Grant at all, the system we play and Reed probably being our best player has just gone against him, especially as the dawn of it coincided with his extended break from the side.

I’d go with this as a fairly logical reason as to why he wasn’t starting, that’s one thing …but…to not even be on the bench? To me that complete exclusion from the squad makes me think there is more to it but that’s purely assumptions I’m making. Especially at home where are form isn’t great…

My gut feeling is that Grant equally does not want to just be a sub and get 20 minutes here and there when he could get injured. There is a huge chance he can finish this season with more starts for Jamaica than us. I don't think it's that big an issue either, Grant seems happy and so do the club by the look of it

Let's hope we can find a compromise. He must be on a fairly decent wage, so hopefully another club can take him off our hands and we can use the wages towards another defender or Striker.
In the system we play now, if Reed was to get injured or need a rest, East seems next in line to take that spot, followed by Lyden. Grant is probably 4th choice in that role.
