Agreed Donkey, plus you can't beat a bit of experience at times. Macca would have been just right for the job, don't know if Navs can do that job but I've not written him off yet

Very true but as Batch has just pointed out on Twitter to me, we still have Navarro to do that. Assuming we don't need to shed his wages.

Five across the middle, that would work...although it means one up front...

Luongo liked a tackle from what I saw of him last season. It would be pretty attacking as a midfield pairing though.. Might be more effective with a midfield three and a holding player like Navarro as others have said.

Only if you want four at the back.

Which I do.  Unless Hoddle's in the middle of the centre backs, then five is fine.

But 1-5-4 leads to such interesting score lines.

Or one 4 in midfield plus somebody tucking into the hole.

Bostock could do that?

Bostock & Luongo in the centre of midfield then?

Happy with that if it's the case.

Wouldnt be happy with that.

No steel or presence in the middle plus I dont think Bostock can play in a flat midfield 2. He's a luxury player, in front of the midfield but behind the striker, he's a proper FM AMC if there ever was one.

Part of a 4 man midfield, no thanks....

      Navarro  Luongo
Pritchard              Tijane
             Bostock
             Collins

Can this be our front 6, pretty please.

There was a period last season where Bostock played in a midfield 4 and was reasonably effective, he and Miller were brilliant together in our 4-0 win away at Stevenage if I remember rightly.

That would make for a really dynamic and exciting attack. If we could keep Ward to marshal the defence then we might be in for a much better season than most were anticipating (including me).

Someone on twitter claims Bostock was at supermarine. Surprised nobody else mentioned this

I think a lot of people underestimate Bostock based on the self-perpetuating stigma that attaches to being labelled earlier on in your career a 'luxury player.'

Hoddle nailed it for me in an interview this week:

Quote
Hoddle was regarded by many as the most technically gifted English player of his generation but says he had to "fight against the tide".

"The technical players were called luxuries," he said. "But players who give the ball away are luxuries. Players who can't do things with the football are luxuries. We need to wake up to that at a very young age and make players play with two feet at six and seven."

Bostock has loads of talent. Really liked him, he created space in midfield and had a great touch. Think he was another similar to roberts that pdc didnt get the best of but that kmac could. Hope this news is true

Essentially, I agree with that.. Teams like Swansea have shown in the past few seasons (even prior to the Prem) that better, more technically gifted players, who are given the mandate to go and play with freedom will prevail over more physical players. I do also think though that there should be at least some physicality to balance a side, but I'd rather have two talented young and energetic centre midfielders than a pair of lower league carthorses.
