The year was 1911,12 season the Town got to the F.A semi final after a brilliant run,beating Sutton 5,0 in round one,Notts County of div 1 were beaten 2,0 in round two,a real shock as County were top of the old div 1.Freddie Wheatcroft got the second and he was tragically killed 5 years later in world war 1.The next round saw West Ham trounced 4,0 at home after a 0,0 draw in london.in the quarter final Everton were beaten 2,1 in an epic match in Swindon,Everton were probably the best team in England at the time.The semi final in front of 49,000 was at Stamford Bridge and finished 0,0.The replay was at Meadow Lane ,Nottingham and in front of 44.000 Swindon lost 1 ,0 to Barnsley after missing a first half penalty!....The Daily Express wrote the treatment of Fleming by Barnsley was shocking,to stop a wizard by maiming him was not not understood down south!...Barnsley were beaten 2,0 by Newcastle in the final.

We got to the same stage 2 years before (or was it later) as well. Didn't we get invited to play Barnsley for some cup begining with D or something in France?

Bit of a random topic.

 Dubonnet Cup....it used to sit in the entrance  to the CG in the Arkells...and in a manner which exemplified the decline of the club in the McMahon years disappeared.  

 I asked at a meeting, probably a fans forum, what had happened to it and was told it had got broken.
