The above information is accurate I received it same as Sam from a banks fraud team.

Me too.

They put a false front onto where you put the card in (normally quite easy to spot if you pay close enough attention), then when you put it in the device inside copies the information off of the magnetric stripe on the card.

If they're really clever then they'll have a little camera watching you type yer PIN in too.

You'll get your card back at the end and be none the wiser.

Barclays told me the people who rigged them put cameras in the cash points at the west swindon one, said they're small and quite hard to see unless you pay close attention.

Just do the basics and cover yourself when typing in your pin. These scams have been around for years..

Does anyone actually know when these were done. I used the Asda Wallmart machine last Friday, so wondering whether it's worth cancelling my card.

One of my colleagues mates works as the fraud analyst at Nationwide who told her so I knew a few days ago, but apparently she's now been suspended or something?

I don't know either way of course but if it is spam then what could the spammer possibly gain from it???

Anyway, an English family (Dad, Mum and Son) where recently caught in Phuket for this.

What a bunch of cunts, coming to a poor country and stealing from the locals.

"Holiday in the sun" by the pistols springs to mind.

Not as much hassle as having your card cloned and spending months trying to claim it back from the bank.

Oh Mondex, how lovely. Surely a precursor to some kind of removal of cash from the masses, so our spending can be monitored and all our taxes paid.

And yes we do. Mondex means you can't lose your money and stuff. Cheesy

I've seen the devices before. And have seen in them use at the fraud department in wilts police, but I'm saying that it might be spam because e-mails with such information is hardly ever released.
