nothing to do with being "hard"
why would anybody stand and take a beating if they could do something to stop it?
like i said fear is the reason.i've been there and have the scars
sorry but that is bullshit. In my situation anyway. if i was to have hit him back then a full scale war would have started which is what i was stopping.
if i was scared why would i have met him on the field instead of hiding somewhere?

I it's got nothing to do with being hard either. it's the fact what do you gain from fighting???
I agree with both of you, if that's possible.
The male thing is to stand and fight, I have never walked away from a fight but have always tried to avoid at all costs, sometimes you can talk your way out of a situation and I've seen others defuse it by taking a couple of punches whilst still trying to calm the other guy down, which has seemed to work unbelieavably.
I was set about by four lads about five years ago, just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, and even though I'm quite a big chap, fear definitely was my first reaction when I knew talking was not going to get me out of the situation, then when no other option was left to fight, fear disappears and you go for it, I probably got hurt more because I did fight back but at least I had the satisfaction that one of them had a dental appointment in the morning.
It must take a hell of a lot of guts to stand there and take it.
